“Oh.” I said, eyebrows skyrocketing. “So no showering for the weekend?”

He walked around the sofa and sat down next to me, picking my feet up and sliding under them to massage the swollen appendages.

“It means no toilet, no shower, no bath, no sink. Nothing.”

“Are they going to have someone come fix it?” I asked the most logical thing I could.

“It’s Saturday, they aren’t going to send anyone until Monday.” He hung his head and inhaled deeply. “I’m sorry, Ronnie.”

“Hey,” I cupped his chin, “it’s not your fault that the water isn’t working.”

“We can’t stay here for the weekend getaway I’d hoped to give you.” His dark eyes were resigned when he looked up at me.

“We can stay for a night.” I said, “Surely we can rough it until morning.”

He laughed and covered my body with his, careful to avoid our bean. “We can, but you aren’t peeing in the woods.”

It was my turn to laugh, and when I did I felt our baby move, stirring as if I’d woken the bean from slumber.

Finn ran his hand over my dress, feeling the movement and we sat there for a while, until his belly growled and mine joined him.

“It’s wild, you know.” He said, hand still circling my tummy. “That our baby is in there, and in a few short weeks we’ll meet them, and it will be real.”

I placed my hands on his cheeks and forced his eyes to meet mine. “It’s already real.”

The past two weeks had been incredible, Finn and I went to a few birthing classes, and we put the finishing touches on the nursery. It was beginning to shape up into a real-life fairytale.

Everything was perfect, and Xavier even said the pictures were turning out like some of his best work. It was my first day off in the past two weeks. Ever since we got back from our babymoon I’d been busy going here and there.

Finn asked me on a date, it wasn’t uncommon. He liked to call everything a date, it made him feel validated, so I indulged him.

Then he got weird, he pulled out a dress that I’d never bought, asked me to wear it, and told me where we were going was a secret. He had a nice button down on, sleeves rolled to his elbows. Slacks hugged his lean legs and I might have swooned at the sight.

When he finally corralled me into his truck we took off towards my office, I raised a brow at him, increasingly suspicious. He winked, and basically incinerated my underwear.

Fuck, I was so gone for this man.

He pulled the truck into the backlot of my office, mimed zipping his lips and got out. Bellamy met us at the back door, hair curled perfectly in her natural spiral pattern, wearing a dress. A dress, people.

Something was going on, they were acting extra strange.

“Why are you here?” I asked, unsure if I even wanted the answer.

“Surprise!” She shouted, hopping up and down on her toes. She threw her arms around me and giggled in my ear. “It’s your baby shower!”

Bellamy had really outdone herself for this baby shower. I shouldn’t be surprised, of course she would throw the baby shower of the century. Pastel colors streamed from the ceiling, flowers dotted every surface and Finn was holding my hand while I sat, blown up like a freaking whale with this little baby pushing on my bladder every five minutes.

“Two weeks until my new best friend arrives.” Bellamy said, plopping down in the seat on my other side. She gently rubbed my swollen belly, the smile on her face pure joy, and a little teasing.

“New best friend, huh?” I tease back, nudging her soft stomach with my elbow. She tilted her head up to look at me through her lashes. Her hazel eyes widened at the flash of panic that crossed my face. Bellamy had always been able to read me, even when I wished she wouldn’t.

“Everything will be fine.” She continued running her hand over my stomach, waiting for my little bean to kick, or move. Although, silently I hoped they wouldn't. I’d already been to the bathroom nine billion times in the past hour, and I really didn’t want to move.

Their little foot kicked Bellamy’s hand and she let out a little squeal of delight, prompting Aaron to head over.

“Can I?” Aaron asked, nodding his head towards my belly. Him and Bellamy went through a lot this past year, and his little gestures like asking for permission to touch my baby bump made me smile.

I nodded, giving him permission. Bellamy guided his hand to where the little being inside of me kicked her hand last. They did it almost immediately, as if they already knew the two of the most important people in my life.
