With those words acting as the final catalyst, Bronx’s control shattered like glass. His entire body went rigid, his muscles tensing as the force of his orgasm ripped through him.
Cora let out a soft cry of delight as she felt Bronx’s release inside her, the sensation both intimate and exhilarating in equal measure. It was a joining of body and soul that left Cora feeling raw and exposed yet somehow stronger for having shared it.
Bronx cupped Cora’s face between his hands. He pressed a tender kiss to her lips, tasting the mingled salt of their sweat and the sweet remnants of their fervor. “You have no idea how much this means to me.”
“Trust me, I do,” Cora replied, her chest heaving as she fought to catch her breath, and Bronx felt the echoes of their shared pleasure still reverberating through her, leaving her body trembling as if with aftershocks from a powerful quake.
“Promise me this isn’t the end,” Bronx said, serious as his gaze bore into hers. “Promise me that we’ll face whatever comes our way together.”
“I promise,” Cora whispered.
“Then no matter what happens,” Bronx vowed, pulling her close and wrapping her in his strong embrace, “we’ll stand firm, side by side, until the very end.”
Cora’s trembling body collapsed onto Bronx’s chest. The heat of their passion still lingered on his skin, the scent of their fierce coupling filling the room.
“Bronx,” Cora murmured. “I’ve never… I’ve never experienced anything like that before.”
Bronx’s large hands stroked her sweat-slicked back. He could feel her vulnerability, her trust in him as she shared her deepest fears and desires. It was humbling and awe-inspiring all at once.
“Neither have I,” he admitted, his voice filled with emotion. He swallowed, forcing the next words out past his worries. “You’re my world now.”
“Even with everything that’s happened—” Her voice faltered, and Bronx could sense her anxiety rising again. “—with the Idaho Pack rebels?”
“Especially because of all that,” Bronx replied firmly, wrapping his arms around her protectively. “We’re stronger together.”
Cora’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears, but she blinked them back. “Then we’ll face whatever comes our way as a team,” she whispered, echoing his sentiment.
“Always,” Bronx vowed, sealing their promise with a tender kiss that spoke volumes about the depths of their connection.
“Sleep now, my love,” Bronx murmured into Cora’s hair. “I’ll keep watch over you and Samuel, always.”
And as she relaxed onto him, her breathing evening out as sleep overtook her, Bronx continued holding her.
“I love you,” he growled in a whisper, even though he knew she couldn’t hear him. “Always.”
Chapter 17
A BEAM OF MOONLIGHTfiltered through the curtains, casting a glow on the empty side of the bed.
Bronx stirred from his deep slumber, his hair tousled and sticking to his forehead. He blinked sleepily, his eyes adjusting to the soft light that filtered through the sheer inner curtains of Cora’s suite. His senses sharpened as he caught a whiff of Cora’s unique jasmine-vanilla scent mingled with her wolf’s musk. Bronx watched as she carefully moved through the room, trying not to disturb him.
“Hey,” Cora whispered, her features creased with the faintest hint of worry. Her gaze darted toward the clock on the nightstand, and she hurriedly began to get dressed. “Sorry to wake you, but I need to go pick up Samuel.”
“Have you told him yet?” Bronx asked, sitting up in bed, his broad chest bare. “About us being mates?”
Cora hesitated, pulling on her jeans before turning to face him. Her small frame seemed even more fragile in the cool night air. “No, not yet. I wasn’t sure how to bring it up.”
“Let’s tell him together,” Bronx suggested, his voice gentle but firm. “He deserves to know.”
He knew the bond between him and Cora was strong, especially after the night before—but it was essential for Samuel to understand and accept their union.
“Okay.” Cora nodded, a tentative smile playing on her lips. “You wait here. I’ll be back with Samuel.”
Bronx swung his legs over the side of the bed, his massive feet finding the plush carpet below. He watched as Cora disappeared through the doorway, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
He rose from the bed, his muscular body tense with anticipation, and began to pace the room. An instant family. It was nothing he’d ever anticipated.
Yet, as he considered the possibility of fatherhood, he found himself eager to embrace it. It was a stark departure from his once-solitary existence.
