I watch as the culprit begs to be released and laugh as he gets dragged through the busy room until he’s out of sight.

“Sorry, folks, this table will be unavailable for a short time.Dealer, can you please compensate these fine customers while I call someone to clean up this mess.”I make the necessary calls so this table is once again operational and to make sure I have what I need.Meanwhile, the crowd that started to surround us is being dispersed by more of the establishments roaming security.

Once the problem is resolved, I head for one of the side doors that leads to the back entrance.I make a point of bypassing Silas’ office as I track through the corridors to avoid any lectures. When I finally make it outside, Vince is also waiting at the car for me.

“You had to make a scene.”Vince shakes his head like he’s not surprised with the way I handled things.“Mr.Lamont will be here in a moment. He had to sort out a…loose end.”

“Yeah, yeah.”I’m looking forward to getting my hands dirty and no God will help anyone who tries to stop me.I rush to get inside the vehicle before Xander comes back and tells me I can’t go.

A tall shadow catches my attention in the building’s doorway.I wind my window down while Silas’ guy tranquilizes the idiot next to me.“Aren’t you forgetting something?”Xander asks with aI thought you were smarter than thatexpression.

I look quizzically at him then search the car for my mistake but see nothing amiss.

“Fuck,” I mutter. He’s referring to the girls or more specifically, Ava trying to fix my mistake.“I’ll sort that out when I’m finished here.”

With a curt nod he shuts the door and I’m left to my own devices in the back seat with the cheater.I start walking through my plan, talking to myself, likely looking like a fucking lunatic. They should all fear me.Sometimes I scare myself with how extremely inhumane I can be.That’s the point though, isn’t it?Show them the consequences for their injustice. No mercy.

I did it many years ago to a person who deserves a worse sentence than he received. My thoughts drift, thinking of the girl I couldn’t save.My sister. She was my first and only heartbreak.I refuse to let anyone else in that will cause that kind of pain again. Therefore, I detach myself from others. That was until Lacey tested every one of my boundaries.

I absentmindedly rub my thumb over the flat side of my blade as we park alongside the empty warehouse. It alleviates my tension.Next, I focus on the subject beside me.That’s all he is, a blank canvas for my creativity to be set free.I get out of the car, observing my surroundings. It’s like this with every job, but I’m extra vigilant and on edge tonight being in new territory.

Vince rounds the car, making sure I’m not in harm's way.He couldn’t care less if anything happened to Silas’ men. He’s here for me alone.

“I want him restrained in a chair, then woken up.I have something extra special planned for this one.”Once inside, I walk straight to the table spread with every instrument necessary for my job.I see a few likely options, but none are as exhilarating as my own blade.

With a little encouragement it doesn’t take long for John Doe to wake up.For all intents and purposes, we only ever give enough sedative to be able to reverse the process if or when needed.Like now, although my reasoning is selfish.I want to hear his cries.

The clock is ticking.

“Finally.”I clap.“Welcome back.”

“Where am I?”His head sways from grogginess.

“You’re right where you deserve to be after that little stunt you pulled in the casino,” I say over my shoulder as I continue scanning the implements.

“Please, let me go.I’m sorry.I’ll never do it again.I’ll stay away from casinos.I’ll… I’ll move so you don’t have to see me again.”

I raise my head toward the ceiling, my manic laughter echoing throughout the building. Then, I spin on my heel and face him.“You’re right about one thing. You’ll never do it again and you’ll definitely not be seeing me after tonight. In fact, you’ll see no one because you’ll be dead. You see, you fuck with Silas then you fuck with Mr.Lamont.You fuck with Mr.Lamont, then you fuck with me.Do you know who Mr.Lamont is, shit stain?I’ll tell you seeing as you don’t appear to be very smart. He’s the devil and I’m your worst fucking nightmare.”

I look down to see the wet patch covering this guy’s crotch.I need to get this over and done with. The longer he’s whimpering like a pussy the more I want to gouge my own eyeballs out.

“Where are my manners? My name is Antonio, and yours is?”I wait for him to reply while he’s restrained, but he won’t.Vince just covered his mouth with duct tape to quieten his cries. It’s a shame really, I like them squealing when I’m working on them.It gets me hard knowing I hold all the power.

“His name is Kirk Smith from Henderson.”Vince holds his wallet and ID card between his gloved fingers.

“Well, Kirk from Henderson.Let’s see how much you love money now.”My dopamine high fuels my need to complete this task.I run the tip of my knife from his navel to his throat. The further I go the harder I press and the louder his muffled cries become.By the time I get to his throat a trail of blood follows my knife.I rest the sharp point of the blade on his forehead ready to make my next mark.In his eyes I see nothing but fear.

I skillfully carve letters until I have successfully written the word thief.I move the point back down his chest, weaving a path once more and enjoying the fight this guy is giving me.Maybe he’s stronger than I anticipated.

“You like a good fight, don’t you?Maybe I’m being too nice.”I dig in further, this time slicing his skin like tenderloin steak.I’m in a place of happiness where my laughter is uncontrolled as I keep up with my handiwork. He won’t have to worry about money any longer as he now has dollar symbols deeply engraved all over his chest.

“Fuck, boys, I feel alive.”Vince and Silas’ guy watch over me, giving me all the time I need.

“Do you think it’s time to make him apologize?”I rip the tape off as I say the words. His head lolls to the side, becoming weak with the trauma and blood loss. He’s seconds away from unconsciousness, but I’m not quite ready to stop playing yet.

“Wake up, asshole.”I pick up the bucket of water and slowly pour it over his head causing him to splutter and choke.More laughter fills the building as I take his hand in mine.“Are you ready to show real remorse?”There’s no way I’m going to draw a word from him.A scream, most definitely.

I rest the hand I just freed on the wooden arm and spread his fingers apart. The moment his eyes roll to watch what I’m doing, I cut his middle finger clean off above the knuckle. He tries to fight, to bring his hand to his chest so he can cradle it, but I don’t give him the opportunity.
