“I’m glad our hotel suite has a separate bedroom for the kids,” she whispers.

“I swear you women think about sex more than us men.” This woman’s hormones are like mine at eighteen. Not that I’m complaining. I take full advantage of her orgasmic needs. I know within the next couple of months, our daughter will take up most of our time.

We land in Aspen, and Mallory and James run off with Lauren to the pool, while we check out the grounds. This luxe location is breathtaking. The dark leather furniture and deep wooden floors flow through the hotel. The dim lights and multiple large fireplaces would be great to sit down and play guitar next to after a day of skiing.

“This place is basically a woman’s Pinterest board forcozy vibes.” I give Emmett’s hand a shake. “How do you work without wanting to sit by the fire all day?”

“That’s Josephine’s favorite spot to read. I swear she spends most of her time curled up in that corner chair by the fire.” He points as Kelsie rolls her eyes. “We also have a tiny room with a chair like that in our suite.”

“You’re living with her?” Kelsie’s suspicious raises. “How do you know this child isn’t after your money?”

“She’s an adult and doesn’t need my money.” He shrugs with a cocky grin. “She’s the mayor's daughter. I sayour placebecause that’s where we spend most of our downtime since we are inseparable. She’s different from the others, Kelsie.”

“You’renot different.” Kelsie winces, but it looks more out of pain than suspicion. “I’m not buying it, Emmett.”

“Youdon’t have to, Kelsie Welsie.” He smirks. So why do his mom and dad need to?

“Don’t take advantage of the young girl, Emmett,” I chime in as his newbie girlfriend makes her way over.

“Josie is far smarter than you two think.” He looks past Kelsie and I and nods with a wide grin. “We make a great team too.”

“Hello again.” Josie’s soft smile greets us as she tucks her auburn hair behind her ear. “How excited are you guys to meet your daughter?” Her hazel eyes, fair skin, and hair brand her as the epitome of autumn.

“Oh, I’m ready to meet her now.” Kelsie forces a laugh. “I’d sleep better with her beside me than inside me at this point.”

“Baby snuggles are the sweetest.” She pulls down the sleeves of her large knit sweater with a shy smile. “Oh, Emmett and I bought you something for the baby. He said you didn’t have a name yet, so I held off on the monogramming. I also knit a small hat.”

“Thanks, Josephine.” Kelsie takes the bag and stares at her for a moment before speaking up. “Honey, you’re too sweet to be with this guy.” She nods toward her brother. “Seriously, you’re young, soft-spoken, overall, the spitting image of pure innocence, and my spoiled playboy brother will ruin you.”

“For fuck’s sake, Kelsie.” Emmett raises his voice. “Maybe I’m no longer that guy?”

“I hope for her sake, you have changed,” Kelsie shoots back, resting her hands on her stomach.

“I am well aware of who he is.” Josie looks at him with kind eyes. “You can’t always choose who you fall for.” Kelsie smiles, but I mentally hear her string of curse words and need to call them out on whatever shit they’ve plotted.

“Kelsie and I are going to finish exploring the grounds, and maybe our bedroom before we meet everyone for dinner.” I take her hand and we excuse ourselves.

I say fuck it to finishing off the tour and carry her up to our suite. Kelsie sighs as I melt the stress off her with my lips on her throat. The fresh mountain air flows through her hair as she leans her back over the balcony. We are high enough to not draw attention to people below, but if her moans continue to grow, people will stop and stare–which I am totally fine with all of Aspen knowing who this woman belongs to. Kelsie’s head falls to the side as my mouth closes in on her rapid pulse. I move my thigh between her legs, giving her better access to grind against it. A louder moan fills the air and, in another minute, I plan to pull her back into the room and take her against the large shower wall.

Her arms wrap around my neck, bringing me flush against her, and mid-kiss, we freeze. I smirk, but remain confused as hell with her ever-changing pregnancy body. The other day, our child made her pee herself from a sneeze. Only, today the warm liquid soaking my leg wasn’t caused by a sneeze. I pull back as her smile drops. I can play off my soaked leg with humor.

“Now we’re talking, baby girl. I knew I could get you as turned on as a faucet.” She doesn’t laugh. “Kelsie, relax.”

“My water broke.” Her eyes bug out. “Max, I have nothing here and we are in Aspen!” Her chest begins to rise as her panic sets in.

“You still have another month.” My heart hammers through my ribs like a wild caged animal trying to escape.

“It doesn’t always work like that!” For someone who has done this twice before, I expected her to react differently. Kelsie always has a plan.

“Okay, should I call the jet?” My mind blanks after the countless books I read to prepare me for this moment.

“No!” She pushes away from me. “I can’t fly home right now, you moron.”

“Right!” I snap my fingers, trying to get my brain back on track. “A hospital bag–you don’t have one of those either right now.”

“Max!” Both her hands steady my shoulders. “Hospital.”

Duh.
