“Yes.”
“Hearsay!”shouted Ermine.
“Your honor, please. After looking closely at the warrant filed by Mr.Ermine against my client, his entire case is not only hearsay, but also entirely baseless. The wiretap he used to get the warrant was not fully translated at the time it was issued,” Jensen said taking a paper from his pile.
“Here is the transcript and the full translation,” he said with a glare at Ermine.“My client was undeniably being threatened by the mob to do their bidding.Luckily, before he could make any move, Mr.Ermine here had him arrested,” Jensen finished.
“I need a moment to read this.”
“But your honor---”
“Mr.Ermine,” growled the judge, and the Weasel immediately quieted.
Konstantin was no lawyer, but it seemed to him the Weasel was fucked. An hour—and loads more legal jargon than he cared to—listen to later, Konstantin rose. The judge had handed Ermine his ass a few minutes ago, and several observers had been asked to leave so as to control their laughter at the Weasel’s expense.
“It is my ruling that the warrant was made in error. The prosecutor’s office has failed to link Mr.Petrov with any activity relating to organized crime, though I am fining him five thousand dollars for receiving food products banned in New York City.If that is all, case closed!”
Cheers and applause rang out, and Konstantin shook Jensen’s hand.He liked the Tiger, even if he was technically a rival.
“Thank you, Jensen. That was one helluva job.”
“Appreciate it.The Shifter Council of New York City is going to follow up with Ivanovich. He is already on their international most wanted list.”
“What does that mean?”Konstantin asked.
“It means, Ivanovich is shit out of luck, Mr.Petrov.Now, I have to ask you one last time, are you sure you don’t want to join the Jensen Pride on a run just to test the waters? You never know.It could be Fate,” the young lawyer said, but Konstantin just grinned and shook his hand.
“No thanks.Turns out, my fate was sealed the first time I saw her.I got my own Pride right here,” Konstantin replied, and turned to find his beautiful mate heading his way.
“Ready to go home?”she asked with a wide, predatory grin.
“With you,moya lyiveetsa?Always.”
And they lived happily ever after…
The end.
