“No.He’s in Louisiana.”
“But I gather he’s looking for you.”
She shrugged.“I’m not sure who those men are.”
“I’ll find out.”
“How?”
“I’ve got them tucked away, waiting for me to question them.”
The way he said that sent a shiver down her spine. She didn’t want to go into that anymore. She was tired.
“Where do I sleep?”
“I already told you.The bed.”
She tried to pull away.“No.”
“Yes.Let’s make a deal.I won’t try to fuck you until you beg me.How’s that?”
“What if I never do?”
He grinned, and she had to admit he was hot as hell.
“You will.”
She shouldn’t find his arrogance sexy, but she did.“So, you won’t touch me at all?”
“I didn’t say that.I’m going to touch you as much as I can, but I won’t get into your tight little cunt until you say go.”
She didn’t know if she should believe him, but she had no choice. She needed to talk to him about a lot of things, but she felt like she’d collapse if she didn’t lie down.
He pulled her over to the bed. He’d already moved the blanket out of the way.
“Get in.I’m going to read a bit more and then brush my teeth. You go to sleep.”
She crawled in and let him tuck the blanket up next to her chin.
“We’ll talk more in the morning.”He started to walk away.
“Wait,” she called out.“You didn’t tell me your name?”
He studied her for a moment.“It’s Drew.”
“Drew?”
He nodded.“Very soon, you’ll tell me yours.”
She didn’t know what to say, so she just nodded.
She watched him get comfortable in the chair before she rolled over and closed her eyes. She’d never slept with anyone before and didn’t know how to deal with it.She’d see, and if she had to, she’d make a bed on the floor she was used to.
For years, she’d slept on a dog bed in Clayton’s room.It was only when she escaped that she was able to relax in a normal bed.
She needed to push those years out of her mind. She couldn’t change them, she could only move forward with her life.
