“It’s…” She cleared her throat.“It’s Nala.”

“Thank you.It’s a beautiful name.”

“Thank you.”

He smiled and held the chair out.“Have a seat.”

Nala sat and pulled the napkin onto her lap.She made it look like she’d done it a hundred times.

“Where did you learn table etiquette?”he asked.

“One of my foster moms was big into it.”

“Foster?”

She looked around the table and then nodded.“Can you ask your questions later?”

He picked up her hand and kissed her knuckles.“Of course.”

“Where’s Gavin?”Drew asked, and he bent toward her.“Gavin is our younger brother.”

She nodded and smiled.

“Alastair had him doing something,” Ethan said.

“Okay.Nala hasn’t met him yet.”

“He’ll be back later, so she can meet him at breakfast.”

“Good.”

The first serving came out.He watched her throughout the meal but wasn’t blatant about it.In fact, he had a conversation with his brother, giving her time to settle.

He was pleased to see her eat at least half her meal.Drew couldn’t take his eyes off her when she smiled or laughed. She was the prettiest thing he’d ever seen.

He looked toward his brother to catch his look and smile of comprehension.Drew rolled his eyes, although it was good to have someone in the house know what he was going through. He knew all he had to do was call Ethan or even one of his cousins and ask questions.

They finished dessert and stood.

“We usually go into the living room and have a drink, but I can see how tired you are, so I think we’ll go up to our room,” Drew said.

Nala nodded.

“Hey, Ethan.We’re heading up.”

Ethan nodded.“I think we will, too.I’m wiped.”

Drew curled an arm around Nala and led her out of the dining room.

“Good night, Nala.See you tomorrow,” Sara called out.

“Good night.”

“I want to introduce you to the cousins’ women this week,” Sara said.

Nala looked up at Drew as they walked away.“Sara’s been telling me about them.I’d love to meet them.”

“You girls will be a good support to each other. It’s not always easy being a woman in my world,” Drew said as he closed the bedroom door behind them and locked it.
