“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Now, let me talk to Drew.I’ll see you soon.”
“I hope so.”
She handed Drew his phone.“He wants to talk to you.”
Drew nodded and held the phone up to his ear.She couldn’t hear what Newman was saying, but Drew didn’t look angry, which was good.
Drew said a few words and then hung up.Nala waited for him to talk.
“I’m going to send a few guys to the place you lived.”
She thought of the money she hid.“Can’t I go?”
He shook his head.“I want you to stay in the house until we figure out how much danger you’re in.Is there something specific you want?”
“Do you trust the men you’ll send to the apartment?”she asked.
“Yes.Why?”
“There’s a bag under a board under the sink. Can they bring that here?”
“Sure. Is there anything else you need to have?”
“All I have is the clothing and shampoo and soap.”
“Which you don’t need.”
Her mouth dropped open.“Of course I need them.”
Drew shook his head.“No.I’ll get everything you need.”
“But…”
“I want you to admit that you were using the clothing to hide.Correct?”
Nala glanced away and nodded.
“You don’t have to do that anymore. In fact, I have some things for you that should be here shortly. There’s someone I want you to meet.”
“Who?”she asked.
“You’ll see.Are you finished eating?”
She nodded.“It was delicious.Thank you.”
“You’ll eat like this every day.”
She huffed out a laugh.“Then I’ll be fat quickly.”
He snorted.“Have you ever been fat?”
She shook her head.
“Then stop worrying about it.I’m looking forward to you getting healthy.”
“But I am…”
