“I can teach you,” Sara said.

“No, baby.Let her man do that.”

The smile that lit Sara’s face brightened her whole complexion.

“Ethan.Come here and meet Nala.She’s Drew’s friend.”

Ethan stood close to Sara and put his arm around her but stared down at her.

“I’ve heard about you.Are you settling in?”Ethan asked.

Nala nodded.Drew intimidated her, but this man was a step above, and she felt her stomach tighten.

“Good.My girl here is happy to have someone during the day.She’s been on her own, or she’s had to go to the cousin’s house for companionship.”

“I enjoy being with Sara very much.”

Ethan nodded and pressed a kiss to Sara’s head.“I’ll see you at dinner.”

“Okay,” Sara said.

“Will I ever get used to the intimidating men here?”

Sara laughed.“Yes.It took me a while, though.If you think these guys are bad, a few of the older cousins still scare the hell out of you at the beginning, especially Alastair.”

“Why?”

“He’s the head of the family.I think that’s made him a hard man, but from what I hear from Ethan, Alastair has always been intense.If it weren’t for Beth, he’d be worse.”

“Who’s Beth?”

“His wife.It’s a great story, but I want her to tell it.The other women have stories, too.”

“I can’t wait to meet them.”

“You’ll love them,” Sara said.“We still have time for a movie before dinner.”

“That sounds fun.I can’t remember the last time I sat and watched a movie.I don’t think I’ve ever been in a movie theater before.”

Sara laughed.“I was in one when I was ten, I think.We’d never be able to go now.”

“Why?”Nala asked.

“The men in the family are very strict about protecting us women.There have been a few times in the last few years when the women had been in bad situations that could have gotten them hurt.”

“I’m glad they’re okay.”

Sara nodded as she sat on the sofa pit and snatched up the remote.“Anything special you’d like to see?”

“Anything but horror or gory.”

“We can do that.”

Nala laughed so hard at the movie they picked.It had Tom Hanks in it, and he was so good.She wouldn’t mind seeing more movies he’s been in.

A bell chime sounded.

Nala looked around.“What is that?”
