The silence on the other end of the line concludes that, obviously, my father had the same impression. But I know him better than that. If the Monti family expected their agreement to be kept, he’d fulfill it—even at my expense.

“I won’t marry him,” I state, then hang up. I clutch my phone in my hand as I pace back and forth.

I don’t intend to marry him.

I never want to be married to anyone.

Marriage and children are not part of my plan.

All I have ever wanted is freedom to do what I want when I want.

And I have that.

That is until Crue walked back into my life.

I’m contemplating right now if I should even go on this date. But it’s been planned for so long, and I have already canceled on this man twice before. I can’t do it a third time. I like him. Okaylikemight be a bit of a stretch, but I could potentially see a good time in the bedroom. I have needs, and sometimes my toys just don’t cut it. And I definitely need some distraction to take the edge off after this week.

Crue won’t kill my father.

Will he?Surely not.

I watch the time go by and contemplate canceling.

I should.

But why am I letting a man dictate my life?

I absolutely should not.

It’s what he wants and the furthest thing from what I want. So, instead, I pour another glass of wine, determined to show this prick who I really am. I’m not a doll to be told what to do.

I can fuck whoever I want.

CHAPTER10

Crue

Iduck just in time.

When I turn around, I see Angel with her hands on her hips, staring daggers at me. Her belly is large with her pregnancy.

“I want to see her. Stop being an asshole and let me see her.” She reaches for another object to throw at me, and Dominic steps in just in time, grabbing it from her.

“You can’t throw shit at him,” he tells her, and she looks past him to glare at me.

“I will cut your throat in your sleep, you asshole. Let me see her.”

“Fucking hell,” Dominic mutters and turns back to look at me. “She didn’t mean it.”

“Oh, but I did.” Angel hits him. “Don’t you dare speak for me.”

“Woman, you can’t threaten him.” He shakes his head. “I’ll talk to him.” Dominic tries to touch her face to calm her down, but she pushes his hand away, grabs something else, and throws it over his shoulder so it just misses me.

“I have plans to see her tonight,” I tell Angel. “She’s on a date, one I specifically suggested shenotgo on.”

Angel pauses, looks at me, and smiles. “She isn’t going to listen to you. You get that, right?” Angel smirks.

“I don’t intend for her to. I have to teach her first. So once she thinks her date went amazing, I’ll kill him and maybe send her some body parts to remind her whothe fuckI am.”
