He trailed his hand down her back and cupped her bottom, drawing her more firmly against his hard body. Even through their clothes, the heat of his cock seared her stomach, and she shivered at the force of the desire burning through her very blood. She hadn’t lied about not being a virgin, but this went beyond anything she’d experienced before.
Some things simply are.
Ria moaned, and if not for the braids holding his crown in place, she would have threaded her fingers through to pull him closer. Or push him away. She honestly wasn’t sure which. Did it matter?
“I do hope you haven’t ignored my command,” a smooth, cool voice drawled.
Almost leisurely, Mehl pulled his lips from hers, and Ria couldn’t hold back a shiver at the loss. Her head spun and her body burned like fire. Then she glanced over to see the imperious heat in High King Toren’s regard. And not just passion. There was a possessiveness in his eyes that set her heart pounding.
It’s for Mehl,she told herself.
“You granted me one kiss,” Mehl said. “But you didn’t stipulate the length of time.”
The high king’s brow lifted. “And your single caress?”
Gods. Mehl’s hand was still firmly cupping her behind. Flushing, Ria slipped from the king’s arms. “That was the only one, Your Majesty.”
“Did Mehl convince you of the merits of accepting our contract?”
The heat in her cheeks increased. “I’m afraid not, High King Toren. I didn’t hear enough of the contract to decide one way or another.”
“Just Toren,” he snapped, closing the gap between them in a few sharp strides. “You needn’t call me anything you wouldn’t scream out in my bed.”
Her breasts went heavy, and her sex clenched almost painfully. “There are many things I might call a person in bed, but I’m not certain they would be acceptable in general company. Or do you mean this moment only?”
“Much depends on your decision.”
Her body seemed to have its own ideas, but she wasn’t certain she could trust it. Could she truly desire two men at the same time? It appeared that way, but what if she was wrong? Beyond all else, she would have to deal with both of their touches for this to work. A massive risk.
“I’m not sure if I’m capable of wanting you both,” Ria whispered. “And I can’t imagine why you would both desire me if I could.”
If Toren asked for Mehl’s permission, it was telepathically. Ria heard nothing but the pounding of her heart as Toren pulled her tight against him, his lips slamming down on hers with none of his husband’s gentleness. She gasped, and his tongue swept into her mouth. Claiming. Conquering. She gripped his shoulders as he took her lips without hesitation.
Before she realized his intent, Toren wrapped his hand around her thigh and lifted her leg around his hip, bringing them into sudden, intimate contact. Despite the layers of fabric between them, the feel of his hard cock at the juncture of her thighs had a moan slipping free. There was no doubt in him, and her body responded to his confidence with shocking clarity.
She did want them both. Urgently. Now.
Toren’s lips trailed down her throat, and her head tipped back in a minor surrender. Then another pair of hands closed around her waist, and Mehl bent down to claim her lips again just as Toren’s mouth reached the neckline of her gown. A strangled whimper vibrated in her throat. If this was a mere sample, would she survive months in their bed?
Her body unashamedly urged her to find out.
Chapter7
Negotiations
“Enough,” Toren said, and Mehl pulled away at once.
This time, the sound Ria made was pure frustration. “What—”
“Perhaps a night together would be unwise,” Toren said as he released her leg and stepped back. His cool confidence slipped into place like a mask, so quickly she had the sudden urge to tear his restraint away. “I would want to take you completely, and no matter how I need an heir, I’ll not risk fathering a child unless you’ve agreed to the breeding contract.”
“Such a cold phrase, breeding contract,” Ria murmured. “And I still don’t know the terms.”
Toren smiled tightly. “Then how about I enlighten you?”
To listen to his offer took her one step closer to actually considering it. Did she want to consider it? Her body still burned from both kings’ touch, and her heart tugged her toward them. But that was dangerous. They might share women, but they were already committed to one another. To get attached would be to risk pain.
Then again, when hadn’t her life been filled with pain in one form or another?
