See? Not scary at all.

I sigh when she eyes me like a bomb about to blow up all over the library.

Something tells me that she’s not going to go down easy with the idea that she’s my woman and she’s not going to get away from me but I’m a semi-patient man. I can wait until she’s onboard.

Not long. But I can wait.

“So…what are you doing tonight, angel baby?”

Her dark red brow lifts and she eyes me cynically. “You’ve got a lot of different names for me. But my name is Beth.”

I smile and nod my head. “I know. But not to me. I like pet names.”

“I’m not a pet,” she huffs and I can’t help but chuckle. She’s a fiery little one and I like it.

“I know that, angel baby. But I have a hard time with names. So I tend to do nicknames.” Not true. I’ve got a mind like a steel trap and it’s locked and loaded on her like a wild animal locked on prey.

“Strawberry, angel baby, baby girl? I’m pretty sure that you can manage to remember Beth, please,” she huffs.

A smile quirks my lips and I move closer to her, feeling a wicked thrill pulse through my dick when she backs away, keeping her eyes on me even as she moves.

Poor little one doesn’t realize that when she called me, she actually called not only her savior but her man. And if she thinks that my nephew is obsessed, she hasn’t seen anything yet.

I glance out the window at the library and my eyes narrow when I see a familiar truck. I know it, because I helped the damn idiot buy it. I co-signed for the fucking thing since he has no fucking credit so my name is on that deal.

I turn to smile at Beth but she stiffens like she knows it’s not a real smile.

“I’m gonna go talk to someone right now. We’re gonna get this all taken care of in no time at all.”

I try to block her view but she peeks around me and her pretty, storm-grey eyes widen and she groans.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake.”

My dick jerks in my jeans as soon as she says that word. I want nothing more than to spend all afternoon fucking her andhearing her say it makes my mind wander to places I don’t have time for yet.

I mentally jerk myself up short and dip my head at her. “Don’t worry, strawberry. I’ll get him all straightened around and then we’ll get a chance to talk. I want to know all about you.”

Her brow lifts. “Why?”

I smile at her. “Because I’m gonna want to know all about the woman who I intend to make mine.”

Her pretty peach lips fall open and she stares at me like I’ve grown another head. “I-I”.

I chuck her under the chin and almost lose it when I feel her soft, silky skin touch my fingers. “Don’t worry about a thing. Daddy’s home, baby girl.”

And I leave her staring at me while I stalk out the door, my eyes locked on that spot in the parking lot.

Little fucker’s too stupid to run for it. Narrowing my eyes, I growl when I reach his open window. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing, Jesse?”

He eyes me, his body stiff and annoyed. “What the fuck are you doing here, uncle?” His blue eyes, so much like my brother’s are annoyed and cold. I hate seeing what this boy has become since his father died.

“That’s not what I asked you, Jesse. What do you think you’re doing messing with that girl? She’s not interested.”

“How do you know that?”

“Because she remembered one little conversation with you that mentioned me and hunted me down to get you to leave her alone.”

“Hmmph!” He growls. “She’s just playing hard to get.”
