“Yeah,” I answer before looking, and Wolf’s voice fills my ears.

“Can you take Deacon to school? I don’t want to leave Damaris and Daisy.” I smile at the new father.

I glance at my watch and frown.

“Um, yeah. Be there in ten.” I hope Diego doesn’t mind me borrowing his car.

I can run Deacon to school and then be back here to watch over him while he sleeps. I can’t leave him alone for long while he’s still showing signs of a concussion.

I jog back to his car and back out of his driveway.

“Be right back, Dr. Hotty.”

CHAPTER TEN

DIEGO

I manageup the stairs as best I can and rip open my sock drawer. I rummage around the back and find the plastic box I’ve been guarding for years.

I close the dresser to the sound of my car squealing out of my driveway.

“Did she just steal my car?” I stumble to the window in time to see the taillights flash as she hastily turns off my street.

I let my body sag to the floor and placed the box on the floor.

Holding my head and staring at the contents between my open thighs, I sigh as the moment hits me hard. It took me having a concussion to work up the nerve to confess to her.

My intercom rings and I pat myself looking for my phone. Luckily, remembering I’m naked but for a towel, I call out to the AI that runs my house to answer the call.

“Diego, I’m borrowing your car. I’ll be gone twenty minutes tops. DO NOT GO TO SLEEP!” I hear people honking and frown.

“Is everything okay? If you have an emergency, I get it. My housekeeper should be here any minute…” She curses and blows the horn of my expansive sports car.

“You are the emergency. Put some clothes on.” Is that a hint of jealousy I hear in her tone?

I smirk as I look down at the box again.

“I really have something important to show you. Please don’t kill yourself before I get to.” She chuckles as my car brakes squeak.

“I fucking hate cages. See you in ten minutes.” She hangs up, and the house grows eerily quiet again.

“SIR!” I loss my balance and fall over onto my bedroom floor.

“Should I call an ambulance?” I wave off the maid’s hands and make sure I’m not giving her a free show.

“I’m going to be fine Juana,” She gives me a motherly stink eye that makes me chuckle.

“If you help me to bed, a friend will be here soon to care for me.” At the mention of someone coming over, which never ever happens here, she brightens.

“A female friend?” I love this woman like a second mother, but I could do without her gossiping ways.

“A former employee. She’s a nurse, so I’ll be well taken care of.” She huffs as she pushes me onto my bed.

“Can she cook?” I roll my eyes and regret it when my vision fills with spots.

“Juana, take the day off. I’ll be fine.” She places her hands on her hips, calling bullshit.

“What is this?” She picks up the small box off the floor and gasps.
