“Sorry,” I whisper.
“WHAT?! I can’t hear you over the ringing in my ears. Was that an apology?” I turn my head away from him.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I cross my arms over my chest as Uncle Toby sighs at us.
“Your dick needs the break. Now, Hannah was about to tell me why she came into the gym ready to maim and kill today.” I roll my eyes because, well, he’s right.
“I have a stalker.” The mood in the room suddenly shifts, and I glance at the men with me.
“Care to elaborate?” Gone is Uncle Toby, my goofy ball Godfather.
Instead, I’m staring at Chaos, MSMC Enforcer. I open my mouth to speak but can’t find my voice.
“Call Wolf. She’s scared, speechless.” I look down at Nova, who’s still lying across me.
“I’m not scared,” I argue, but he cups my cheek.
“Then why are you crying baby?” I slap his hand away, but I can’t deny the wetness I feel on my face.
“Because I’m tired of not sleeping, frustrated that I can’t catch the asshole, and angry beyond reason! I don’t want to be followed or given notes. I want my normal life back!” I don’t know when Uncle Toby picked up his phone but I hear Wolf’s voice loud and clear through the speaker when I end my rant.
“Church, NOW.”
CHAPTER FOUR
DIEGO
I letthe office door slam behind me as I pull my cell phone out of my lab coat. I hit dial on Hannah’s number and grin like a fool as I make my way through the corridor.
“Hello?” Her voice rings through my soul like a breath of fresh air.
“You still wanna be a nurse, or has to being unemployed all this time grown on you?” Her laughter in my ear is enough to stop my heart.
“Dr. Espinosa, I’ve never been unemployed in my life. I went from beauty queen to fighter to nurse. Now, I’m the official Medic for my MC. I’ve never been busier.” My good mood sorrow slightly.
I’ve been fighting with the administration to reinstate her job, but when they refused, I found a loophole that my attorney says they can’t argue. But she needs to agree.
“Well, shit. Here, I thought you might want to come work for me.” I hear the sound of water pouring and slow my pace.
“Have I caught you at a bad time? You sound busy.” Maybe she’s washing dishes I tell myself to will my cock from jumping in my scrubs.
“Nah, just soaking in the tub. I pulled a muscle at the gym. Had to break someone’s assholes nose for looking at my tits too long.” WHAT?!
“You assaulted a man today?” She chuckles, and I know a smart comment is about to come out of her mouth.
“I hadn’t met my weekly quota yet.” I shake my head as I finally enter my office.
“It’s Monday.” I sit and shake my mouse to wake the computer.
“What can I say? I’m an overachiever. Listen, I appreciate you trying to make this fucked up situation right, but honestly, Diego, I’m fine.” The hell she is.
She’s gotten less sleep now that she’s not working than ever before. I should know. All I do is watch her through the camera I hid in her bedroom.
I cringe at my own thoughts.
“Right, so coming to work for me directly on a part-time basis doesn’t appeal to you?” The water on her end splashes, followed by a tiny curse before she answers.
“How?” I smile.
