“I love you, too, Taylor, forever, and I’ll never let you doubt me ever again.”

Later, I find Taylor. She is standing by the shore; the moonlight illuminating the delicate features of her face. It’s the perfect moment, just the three of us. Most of the guests have left, and I have a sleeping Holly in my arms.

Taylor turns to us, a soft smile playing on her lips, and I realize that life, with all its imperfections, still led us to this perfect moment. “We were always going to be, weren’t we?”

“I believe destiny made sure we were going to be together.” I take her hand as the two of us face the horizon, ready to start our life together.

“Do you think she was telling the truth? My Mom. Do you think she is getting better?” Taylor asks quietly.

I shrug my shoulders. I know Janie enough to know she’d never want her daughter upset or believe she wouldn’t live forever. “Only she knows.”

Taylor looks me in the eye. Her teeth chew on her bottom lip as her eyes slowly glisten with tears. “Can we get married sooner rather than later? I want her to be there.”

“Tomorrow?”

She smiles. “If it’s possible.”

I pull her against me as we look out to the moon hovering on the horizon, casting a warm glow back to us. “I’m going to give you everything I can.”

She looks at me and at Holly and says, “You already have.”

Epilogue

Two Months Later

Taylor

I’m shaking as I stand outside the closed doors. Doors that are carved from ancient oak and worn with time. Around the doors, there’s a grand arch made of stone and wood etched with intricate carvings of angels and saints. It’s like they are guarding the sacred space within.

“Nervous.” Harrison stands beside me, squeezing my hand.

I’m not nervous.

I’m thrilled to be marrying my soulmate.

And I’m delighted that Harrison agreed to give me away.

Mom wants to watch me walk down the aisle. She told me it would be too hard to give me away and that she’d prefer to see me walking toward my future.

Harrison was thrilled to take her place. I just hope one day he gets his forever.

“No,” I say as the doors creak open.

Soft candlelight dances on the walls, casting an ethereal glow that seems to beckon me forward.

The guests turn, making my heart race with anticipation.

Smelling the fragrant flowers in the air, blending with the faint notes of classical music playing in the background.

Holly is probably too young to be throwing rose petals on the floor, but with Mia’s guidance, she is doing a perfect job.

The moment the music changes, Harrison gives my hand a reassuring squeeze before we begin our slow procession down the aisle. Each step getting me nearer to my soulmate.

I steal a glance at Harrison, his eyes radiating pride as he escorts me towards the altar. Memories flash through my mind, from him helping me during my pregnancy, to the deep conversations we had late into the night as we sat on the steps of my mom’s house and stared at the ocean.

I know he wants this for himself. I know there is a longing in him, a yearning for his own forever love.

I hope he finds her soon.
