My shoulders deflated slightly. “Why did you do that? I was hoping you would cancel that date. You don’t need to be around them outside of work hours.”

She made a face as she shook her phone. “Except I seem to be working. Brian’s been calling you and you haven’t answered his calls.”

“Oh, shit. Come in,” I said as I unlocked the door.

Jordan scurried inside the apartment and slipped off her shoes. I walked over to my keyring and pulled out one of the extra keys. “Here. I should have given that to you the other day. Sorry.”

She grabbed the key as she flipped it over in her hand. “You have a computer here? I didn’t look the last time I was here,” she asked. Her cheeks reddened as her thoughts must have drifted to the last time she was here. “I have the documents on my phone, but I assume that you have it in your email, too.”

We walked through my apartment to my bedroom. At my small desk, my laptop was on the top. I sat in my chair and booted up the laptop. I spun my chair around. Her arms crossed as she tapped her foot.

“Brian needs an assistant. I’ve been going over all the files and information. This isn't feasible. No wonder Brian’s on the edge of a breakdown. He’s been trying to do it all between all the temps. This isn’t feasible anymore. You have grown too big. ”

“I’ll tell him that, but maybe we can get him a virtual assistant for now?”

She shrugged. “I still think what you both are doing is ridiculous. You two are the luckiest idiots I’ve ever met.”

I paused. “Same thing with you trying to play nice with Kate and Jessica.”

Her eyes narrowed as she walked to the bed. She sat down. “To be honest, I was glad that he called. It got me out of there.”

I chuckled. “What was the form?”

“It’s the one for the Nightgale company. They want to see if Brian can create an app for them. They really like the features of your app, but would like a premium version for themselves. This is a big deal. This is what I’ve been talking about. You two are about to get even bigger and this two-man job thing will not work out.”

“Bet he was excited at a chance to pour himself into the code and find a new solution.”

Jordan shrugged. “I guess. If we were to find him an assistant, it would have to be someone that would be open to his moods, as you’ve called them.”

I rolled my eyes as I logged into my profile. “He’s weird. He has some personal improvement that he needs to do.”

“But you’re fucking your assistant? Pot meets kettle.”

I turned away from my computer. “Oh, you used the present tense?”

She glared. “Shut up.”

I smirked as I turned around while I opened my email. “Remember the last time you were there? It was pretty hot. We could repeat that again.” I clicked open the file and filled it out. The bed groaned as Jordan spread out. Her feet hung off the edge as she kicked them in the air.

“What’s the plan with Brian and you? Like owning a business across the country like this?”

“I’ve been joking with him about moving here,” I said.

Jordan hummed as she pulled out her phone. “You should do it. Quit your dad’s company.”

“Didn’t he ask you to find an assistant for him?”

She looked up. “It was a joke, I think. But I can tell he’s stressed and upset. He wants to do hisrealwork, he said. The thing is, why am I playing mediator? You must not be listening to him either.”

“Let’s start with the virtual assistant here that works here. Cause if not, you’ll wind up helping him too as his virtual assistant. Then you can help her or him out, and I can convince Brian to move here.”

Jordan nodded. “Use your card for the ad?”

“Yeah, unless you have a friend that would work out.”

Jordan hummed again. “Most of my friends are from the flow community. I don’t know if they are a good fit for someone like Brian. I’ll consider it. We probably should work on a sexual harassment policy for your business, if you guys are expanding.”

I hit send on the documents and turned around. I stalked toward her and climbed over her body. Jordan gasped as I leaned closer to her neck. Goosebumps rose on her skin.
