His gaze became nostalgic as he said in a voice heavy with grief.“It’s a pity.My mate and I also wanted a girl, but the Moon Goddess took her away from me before we could have one.”

I couldn’t help glancing from Luna Eleanor’s expressionless face to his and back again. After all, he was publicly displaying sadness about his former Luna in front of his current Luna, as though she couldn’t give birth to the daughter he always wanted.

“Hahaha, thank you.If you want, we can send you information about the bracelet so you can look through it.”Daddy Aisling swiftly changed the subject.

From Alpha Owen’s startled glance at Luna Eleanor, I realized that he hadn’t said those words to hurt her. He’d just gotten lost in grief.

Luna Eleanor seemed to understand as she forced a smile and patted his arm.

Before the atmosphere in the room could grow more awkward, there was a knock on the door.

Aurora

Standing at the door was none other than my host family: Marisa Davis, her mate, Jim, and their daughter, Alice.

My parents had never met them, other than seeing their pictures, so Daddy Reece asked in a cold yet polite tone.“Hello, how can we help you?”

Jim, Marisa’s husband, shifted to stand in front of his mate as she answered, “Hello, we’re here to see Aurora Byrne.”

Daddy Reece’s demeanor changed, probably because he was suspicious about how they’d gotten my room number, but I interrupted him before he started questioning them.“Dad, let them in.They’re my host family.”

“Oh?”Daddy Reece murmured with a raised brow, studying them as he shifted to the side, granting them entry into the hospital room.

My mom was already standing when Marisa walked into the room and she strode toward her, towering over Marisa’s petite frame.

Marisa stopped in her tracks, glancing timidly at me, Alpha Owen, and everyone else in the room before facing my mom.

“Mrs.Byrne?”Just as she spoke, my mom grabbed her hands.

“Marisa ...You’re Marisa right?”My mom asked, her back to me, which made me unable to see her facial expression.

Marisa stared, wide-eyed, at my mom and nodded.

The tension was broken when my mom chuckled and hugged the dumbfounded Marisa, releasing her from her embrace.“Thank you so much for caring for our daughter, Marisa.Levi told us about how you dragged Aurora upstairs to ask her if she was sure about Levi.I didn’t believe Aurora when she said you were very nice to her because she tends to tell white lies to make us feel that she’s comfortable even when she’s not.I’m so grateful that she met a caring host family like yours.”

Marisa flushed a light pink, looking a little light-headed as she nodded nervously.“Don’t worry about it, Mrs.Byrne.Your daughter is a very lovable girl.”

“Oh, please call me Amelia. And don’t flatter her. She’s the most stubborn person I know and she can be so disobedient. And that avoidance habit when she’s processing stuff, I don’t even know who she got it from.I hope ...”

While my mother was murdering Marisa’s impression of me, my fathers took turns to shake Jim’s hand with conservative smiles.“Hello, thank you for caring for our daughter.”

“You have a wonderful daughter. We came as soon as we learned that she was in the hospital. Is she doing okay now?”Jim asked.

“She’s fine.We should be able to get her discharged next week.”Daddy Aisling said.

“Oh, good, good. How about we invite you over for dinner to celebrate her getting discharged?”Marisa was now in a good mood after a pleasant talk with my mother and her shyness was mostly all swept away.

“Oh, no.We wouldn’t want to bother you.And we’re returning to Ni Daonni City once she’s discharged.”

“What about her studies at Crawford University?”Alpha Owen’s gruff voice made everyone glance at him.

It was just then that Marisa, Jim, and Alice noticed him and Luna Eleanor.

After realizing who he was, they turned to face him, bowing as they greeted, “Alpha Owen.Luna Eleanor.”

Alpha Owen smiled and nodded to them.“Hello, no need to be so polite.Sit down. We’re also here to see how Aurora is doing.”
