The murmuring in the room disappeared when an Alpha’s son stood up and tried to protest with his hands in the air and was shot in the chest, leaving a smoking hole where his heart was supposed to be before he fell to the ground.Muffled crying and sobbing filled the restaurant after this but were quickly subdued by the wandering attacker’s warning.

“Who is Aurora Byrne? The daughter of the head of the Supernatural Council’s Intelligence Department?”The voice of the leader of the group seemed to echo in the restaurant as he called my name.

My heart trembled as I tried to think hard about who had sent this group after me.They’d mentioned Daddy Keane’s position as the head of a department in the Supernatural Council, so they were abducting me to threaten the Supernatural Council?

Did the Alphas Congress somehow find out about the Supernatural Council’s plans? Were these men the mercenaries they hired to abduct me so they could force the Supernatural Council to repeal the Pack Observer Law?Or did this have something to do with the Notebook Organization?I shook my head at that thought because the Notebook Organization was too low-key to organize this type of abduction attack.

In those few seconds, I sifted through as many groups or organizations that could have something to gain by kidnapping me so they could demand something from the Supernatural Council but none of them seemed to have the resources needed to send men as well-trained as the ten attackers with laser rifles for an abduction.

If they came to capture me when I was alone, I could have considered fighting or trying to get away, but they’d come to apprehend me in a restaurant full of people, including my true mates.

They’d also spread around the restaurants, moving in between the tables where several people were seated with their hands in the air.Even though I carried a few shield bubble orbs with me at all times, I couldn’t use them because the wandering attackers would also be inside the shield bubble, which defeated the purpose of a shield bubble protecting the people inside it from external attack.

“I’ll give you thirty seconds to fish her out or I’ll blow everyone here to bits.”It was another man who spoke this time. The easy command and the casualness in his rough yet raspy voice gave him away as the real, hidden leader of this operation.

Before anyone could point me out, I stood up myself.I’d rather die than let innocent people get hurt for me.

As I stood up slowly with my hand raised in the air, I shook my head at Levi, Mateo, Caden, and Aiden, who were staring intently at me, trying to tell them with my eyes not to make any sudden moves.I was greatly relieved when they nodded in response.

The guns in our attackers’ hands were laser rifles, a weapon that my grandmother was modeling and was yet to even approve of prototyping because of how much of a future tech it was.It was very scary to realize that whatever group or organization sent these attackers had produced it successfully.

If any of us made sudden moves and got shot in the heart, there was no treatment for that even though we were supernaturals. He or she would be dead forever.

As I stared into Levi’s eyes, a hand yanked me out of the enclosure of my chair.

“Well, well, well, what do we have here?”The man staring at me with greedy green eyes was covered from his face down to his toe.His only visible distinguishable features were his dark brown hair and his green eyes.

“You asked for me and here I am.Can you please let these innocent people go now?”I asked in the humblest tone I could summon.

“Well, there’s no need to verify that she’s Keane Galway’s daughter, after all. That annoying self-sacrificing spirit seems to have been passed down to his next generation.”The man standing by the buffet, biting into a cake in the dessert section of the restaurant’s buffet, said without looking my way.

I recognized his raspy voice as the voice belonging to the group’s hidden leader when the cold muzzle of a gun was pressed to my back.

“I hate brave little girls the most. You don’t even know if we’re going to let you go alive and you have the guts to ask for mercy for others.”A low and cold voice said from behind me, inciting an involuntary shiver of fear to course through my body when I heard the low hum of the laser rifle being activated.

“Well, at least she knows to be afraid.”The man with the green eyes couldn’t stop staring at my face and my lips with a lust-filled gaze.“It’s amazing that someone could be born with all the features I love the most in my women.”

The man behind me withdrew the muzzle at my back and pulled my hand out of the green-eyed man’s grip with a snort.“You say that about every woman you meet. Can you try to remember why we’re here and keep your blood flowing in your brain just this once?”

“Fine, but I call dibs on her.”The green-eyed man said in a disgruntled voice, his disgusting gaze running down my neck to my chest and then my hips.

“There’s no calling dibs on her.We can’t let anything happen to her or we won’t get the results we want.”The raspy voice of the hidden leader was muffled by whatever he’d stuffed in his mouth.

With practiced dexterity, the hidden leader twisted his wrist with precision, aligning the barrel of his firearm with the target sneaking up behind him.The transition was fluid, almost like a dance move that he had rehearsed countless times. There was a calculated efficiency to his actions, a testament to his training and experience.Without turning his body for a backward glance, he fired a shot, the recoil absorbed effortlessly by the trained muscles in his arm and wrist.

The snack in his other hand remained undisturbed. The contrast between the ordinary act of eating and the deadly precision of his response to the guard who had hidden in the restaurant and tried to creep up on him sent a chill up my spine. However, the green-eyed man didn’t even pause to think of the hidden leader’s deadly reaction and he continued speaking.

“Oh, then how about I pick another one?I could ...”Before he could say more, a smoking hole appeared in the green-eyed man’s chest and his eyes were wide in shock as he tumbled down like a sack of potatoes.

And the gun pointed his way belonged to the hidden leader who had been stuffing his mouth with food a few seconds ago.“You talk too much. One day, your lecherous ways will bring disaster to the organization. So just die now.”

The hand of the man gripping my arm trembled for a second when the green-eyed man was shot, but when he spoke, there was no fear in his voice.“Are we leaving?”

The man with the raspy voice looked around the restaurant before focusing on me.“Yes.He is right, though, Aurora. You are pretty.Fortunately for you, I do not like little girls and I like my women willing. You don’t have to worry. As long as your father gives us what we want, I’ll make sure you go back to him unharmed.Come on, let’s go.”

With those words, he turned toward the door.

I stared at the back of his head, following him until I stumbled when the man behind me shoved me forward.
