He nodded. “I will, Father.”

I turned to Noel. “My stubborn little pet. Use your cunning.”

“I will, Dad,” Noel said.

I leaned forward, kissing both of them, then released them. I looked out over the horizon and saw what looked like a large dark cloud coming our way and with such a speed, I knew what it was. “Here they come,” I said, then removed my silver sword from its sheath.

“About time,” Tylendel said, his eyes glowing bright green. He pulled his sword out as well, which looked quite deadly. A dragon bone, double edged blade with silver lining, sure to do its fair share of damage. Especially at the hands of Ty.

My sons did the same and I could sense their emotions, their fear, but they stood their ground. I was proud of them. My own sword was also made of dragon bone, weapons of this caliber were extremely hard to come by if you weren’t a dragon. My Father’s alliance with Evander and Telias afforded us such necessary luxuries. I gripped my hilt and took a deep breath, preparing for the clash.

Father, are you seeing this?Bruce asked me.

I am,I said.

They’re coming, Dante said.

My cock’s been hard waiting for this battle,Marco said.

Don’t bust that nut just yet, big brother,Donovan added.

They’ve coordinated their attack to strike every district at the same time, it would seem, I said.

Ahh, fuck, I’m about to be busier than a whore in a brothel during a half-off sale,Bruce said,Gotta go. He ended his connection.

Had the situation not been so dire, I would have laughed at Bruce’s uncanny sense of humor, even in the face of impending war. But, I was too focused.

Be safe, I told them and ended the link so I could prepare myself for my own battle.

They split up once they reached their targets, some ascending onto the rooftops while others landed to attack Josef’s wolves and the dragons down below. I took several steps back as I watched the vampires come closer. Their eyes glowing red, fangs glistening with venom, and a thirst in their eyes. The first vampire who landed before me, I took his head with one swing, as he was much weaker than I was. His blood splattered my face and anyone near me. More and more came and I kicked, punched, and blew fire at them that had no effect. So, it was true. I sliced the arm off a vampire who tried to touch me, then spun as I swung my sword, taking his head. I stabbed another in his back who had Somchai pinned to the rooftop. He screamed as the silver pierced his heart, killing him.

“So many are young,” I yelled, letting Ty and the others know about their weakness.

“God, there’s too many of them,” Noel yelled.

“Stay focused, boy!” I snapped.

I grabbed one, biting his neck and ripping it out. Her hot blood squirted all over my face as blood gushed down her chest and the rooftop. I released her and swung my sword, then watched as her head flew into the air, hitting another of Alexander’s vampires who was charging toward me.

“I’ll kill you,” I growled. I went to punch him, but was stabbed from behind with a silver sword. I cried out, the pain searing as it throbbed. I dropped to one knee and kicked the vampire who’d stabbed me as hard as I could, sending his body flying into the building across the way. My wound began to heal, because silver couldn't kill me. Thank god. That vampire had been strong enough to pierce my armor, too. More vampires were on me and I swung my sword, chopping off their legs since they were foolish enough to crowd around me. I rose and began chopping off more heads along with my two sons.

I turned to see more vampires coming and couldn’t believe there were so many. Thousands upon thousands of vampires. My god, it’d be a miracle if we survived this. Dragons and werewolves on the rooftop with me were fighting their asses off, and I was impressed with their combat skills. I looked at the approaching flock of vampires and flew toward them, spinning with my sword and slicing whoever was near me. I watched as torsos were severed and entrails spilled onto the streets below as blood rained down. I was covered in the blood of my enemies. My hands were slick with it and that made it difficult to grip my sword. I positioned myself by my sons, to continue to protect them. Somchai was injured and Noel was by his side as he fed on Ivan, who had joined us at some point during the battle.

He had to release Ivan as more vampires came and I watched as Tylendel flew through them, dismembering the horde as easily as one slices through paper. His armor and clothes were drenched in blood, his hair matted with it, and it streaked down his face, making him look like a walking nightmare. To me, he was beautiful in his savagery.

More vampires kept coming, battalions of them, and it seemed never-ending. I swung and my sword was blocked by a vampire far older than the others. He had skill and our swords clashed as we fought. Another vampire sliced his blade down my back and I pulled out my dagger that had silver nitrate inside the blade. I stabbed the bastard in his stomach, then pushed the button releasing the silver. He screamed, and fell to both knees, then his side. I couldn’t watch his demise as I was still fighting the stronger vampire. I used my dagger and sword to block his sword as he tried to bring it down on my head. I tried to stab him with the dagger, but he grabbed my wrist and headbutted me. I saw a flash of white and staggered back. He was on me, not giving me a chance to recover, which was a smart tactic. Again, I blocked his sword, then countered and he blocked. That was when he left himself open. I gripped my dagger and prepared to plunge it into his torso. It was at that moment I screamed as searing pain ripped through me.

“Noooo,” I cried out, my body dropping to the rooftop while I endured the pain of losing another son. Oh god, no… Tyler!

I looked up to see the blade of his sword coming toward me and I couldn’t stop it. Before he could decapitate me, I saw white fire engulf him. The flames were so hot, I could feel them, and it was the first time I’d ever felt the heat of fire that was actually deadly to me. I looked in the direction from where the fire was coming and I could see Tylendel blowing the flames from his mouth. He’d transformed into his full dragon form, his wings extended and gorgeous iridescent scales covered his exposed skin, adding an extra layer of protection. He turned around, blowing the fire out, setting every vampire within twenty-five feet ablaze. They screamed, their bodies igniting and burning into ash instantly. The pain I suffered began to fade away, but I was still in awe of Tylendel’s power. Once he cleared the rooftop of all vampires, he closed his mouth, cutting off the fire and fell to one knee. Another dragon came to his aid and Tylendel collapsed onto him, his eyes closed.

My cheeks were wet with tears as my heart continued to ache. I’d lost another son, Tyler. My beautiful Tyler, he’d been mine for over a century and now… he was gone. I wanted Alexander’s heart in my hand. My thirst for vengeance was stronger than my thirst for blood.

Father, Tyler…

I know, Michael. Don’t be distracted, I warned my other sons. This battle was happening in every territory we had. I would have to mourn my sons if I survived. I cut off communications, then rose to my feet. Noel and Somchai came to me and I kissed them both on their bloody foreheads. I then made my way over to Tylendel.

“Are you okay?” I asked, and I looked out at the sky to see more vampires coming.
