I agreed to send a battalion of dragons along with Olian as their commander to aid Elijah just in case the vampires were to attack him. Elliot pulled out his phone, but the screen was broken.

“Fuck,” he growled, then stuffed it back into his jeans.

“Here,” I said, handing him mine.

He took it and called Elijah. I could hear the phone ringing, but there was no answer.

“Damn it,” Elliot snapped. He called again, but nothing.

“Give it to me,” I said, reaching for my phone. I called Olian and he didn’t answer either. I hung up. “My Knight is still alive, I sense him, which means they may be engaged in battle and can’t answer our phone calls. Try not to worry. Deacon left the majority of his wolves there and they have five hundred of my dragons.”

Elliot was frowning, but he nodded. “Yeah, I know. I just…”

“I get it. You don’t want anything to happen to your old pack. We have to have faith in them,” I said.

“Do you want me to go to check on them and lend aid, my Liege?” Hexon asked.

I nodded. “Go,” I said.

Immediately, Hexon took to the skies and disappeared. He’d be there in no time. A dragon of his power flew as fast if not faster than most fighter jets. At least Mach five if I took a wild guess. I kissed Elliot again, trying to keep him calm.

“Try not to worry. Besides, once Hexon gets there, the fight is practically over,” I said, attempting to give Elliot hope. He really did love his old pack. Or was it just Elijah and Deacon? Either way, I did what was in my power to give him peace.

He nodded and kissed me back. “Yeah, Hexon is a fucking monster on the battlefield. I could watch him fight all day.”

I laughed. “All of my dragons, really. I don’t think Alexander was ready.”

Elliot shrugged. “I think it was as much a show of power as it was a distraction. I think his only target is Ara.”

“That battle isn’t ours. We’ve done enough,” I said.

“Fuck yeah, we have,” Elliot agreed.

I looked around my property to see my wolves and dragons finishing off any vampires who were still alive. I noticed they healed really fast. Even when body parts had been severed, they grew them back. Wolves and dragons could do the same, but it took longer. And even though the majority of these vampires were young, no more than two centuries, they were still fast as hell and I didn’t even sense them as they approached. Thank god my dragon sentries could see them. That gave us plenty of time to get ready. A part of me wanted to meet this Alexander, to look into his eyes and smile at his defeat. I wanted him to see me and know that he was still weaker than I was, even with his souped up vampires. Fucking idiot.

“Behindyou,”Danteyelledand I turned just in time to grab the vampire who was coming at me and catch him by his throat. I dug my nails into his skin as he clawed at my hand. I ignored the pain and snatched my hand away, ripping out his throat. His eyes bulged as blood bubbled from his mouth. The smell of it was thick in the air and before I had mated to Dante, it wouldn’t have smelled as succulent as it did now. Wolves did love the scent of blood, but not as acutely as a vampire. I wanted to lick the blood that gushed from the wound, but I had to finish his ass off. I slashed with my other hand, severing his spine and head from his body. More blood splattered my face and chest, but I was already covered in it.

I picked up my sword I’d dropped in the heat of the battle because my hands were so slicked with blood, I’d lost my grip. I wiped my hands on a curtain, then wiped the helm of my sword. Dante came up to me, his chest heaving and blood coating his body. There was an eyeball in his hair. I reached up and plucked it out, tossing it to the floor.

“Ewww, thanks for that, baby. I think this battle is almost over,” he said, looking out the window.

“When Misha released that weird fire, he took out over a hundred of them,” I said.

“I know, right? That shit was awesome!” Dante beamed.

“I didn’t know dragons could do that. Those vampires were immune to regular fire, but whatever that was, it incinerated them on contact. Nasty business, that fire and power,” I said, taking note. I had watched the dragon Knight do it. He was in his full form, which was also something I'd never seen before. And the white fire came from his mouth so hot I could feel it and I wasn't even close to the vampires he roasted with it. I did notice how he’d been taken out of the fight after he did it. Once I realized he needed to fuck, I sent him to the dungeon with six wolves to get him back into fighting shape.

“I’m just glad I got to see him do it again,” Dante said.

I nodded. “It was something to behold. He killed so many vampires with that fire, even more than the first time.”

“Because he did it from the sky and got better range,” Dante said.

“Yes, that was the difference.”
