Stella

The car ride home is quiet, and despite my eagerness for Miles to make good on his word, I find my eyes drooping from the full stomach and warm heated air blasting through the vents. It also doesn’t help that the road leading up to Ravage Castle is long and winding, so all those things mixed together means that I’m jolted awake by my husband as we pull up to the front door.

“Did I fall asleep?” I ask.

“You did. Niro had to put up the barrier because you were snoring so loud.”

“I don’t snore!” I tell him, hitting his shoulder as he laughs and exits the car.

Walking around to my side, he opens my door and holds his hand out. “It’s cute, butterfly.”

I wince as he helps me out of the SUV. “I have sand in places I didn’t think was possible.”

Laughing, he pulls me into his body as Niro drives away, going off to park the car.

“I’d be happy to clean you up,” he says seriously.

“I’m sure you would.”

His lips twitch with the hint of a smile as he grabs my elbow, tugging me toward the front door. It’s quite cold tonight, and I instantly relax once we get inside the warm castle.

Home,I think absentmindedly.

We walk to the elevators, and as soon as we’re inside, Miles tugs me close. I vaguely register the ding of the doors closing, as well as Miles’s shoulder muscles contracting as he presses the button for the third floor. As soon as we ascend, he leans down and kisses me, hoisting me up so that my legs are wrapped around his waist.

“This is my favorite,” he murmurs against my lips. “My wife’s legs wrapped around me.”

“Oh yeah?” I tease.

“Like a little koala,” he mutters.

I huff a laugh. “If you say so.”

“I do say so,” he answers.

His hands run along the curve of my arse, squeezing once.

I reach my hands up and run them through his hair. He lets out a low moan when I do, his head shifting into my touch as a shiver works through his whole body.

How long has he gone without someone touching him?

How long has he craved someone to do just this?

I swallow the emotion causing my chest to ache. Instead, I kiss him back as the elevator doors open. He doesn’t set me down—instead, he marches to our living quarters with purpose. I whimper when his hands squeeze my arse again, and just as I reach down for his belt buckle, someone clears their throat.

“Sorry to interrupt,” Luna says. Miles spins so that we can both look at her, and I blush as she gives us both a knowing smile. “Your curtains arrived, Stella,” she tells me quickly. “I just finished installing them.”

I nod awkwardly. “Amazing. Thank you, Luna.”

“Thanks, Luna,” Miles says, smirking.

She shoots Miles a knowing look before scurrying off. Once she’s out of earshot, a low growl emits from his throat.

“Those fucking curtains,” he mutters, irritated. “Elephant, leopard, and peacock feathers…”

I laugh. “Are you saying that flying lynxes and zebra unicorns aren’t your thing?”

He grunts as he walks us to the door. “I mean, where do they draw the line?”
