Chase and Liam high-five, and I try not to roll my eyes. A second later, Chase slides a small gift bag over to me.

“It’s from him. He asked me to give it to you.”

Furrowing my brows, I set my tea down and walk over to the small black bag. “What is it?”

“Well, I’m not sure how they do it in England, but in America, when you’re given a gift, you have to open it to find out.”

Chase ducks as I throw my soggy tea bag at his head, laughing.

“Don’t be an arse.” Snatching the bag up, I grab my tea in my other hand. “I’m heading upstairs to work. If you need me, you know where to find me.” I walk over to Chase and give him an air kiss. “See you tomorrow. I hope you know that my present is going to be the most obnoxiously large gift on the table because you’re so cheeky,” I chirp, and the guys are still laughing as I walk away.

By the time I get into the bedroom, I close the door with my heeled foot and set my tea down. Then, I walk over to the bed and sit down, staring at the bag.A gift? What could it possibly be? What could hepossiblysay with something material?

I remove the black tissue paper and stare into the bag, brows pinched in confusion as I pull out a pair of socks with…

Little pygmy goats all over them.

And the kicker is, they’re personalized.

Estelle + Lucifer 4ever.

“What a prat,” I mumble, grinning. Setting them aside, I reach in for the black card, pulling it out.

The front is personalized to me in gold ink.

To my wife.

“Why are you so perfect, Miles Ravage?” I whisper.

Opening the envelope, I pull out a piece of black cardstock. Written in the same gold ink is a note.

Estelle,

I bought these for you earlier this week and wanted to give them to you.

I miss you.

(And so does Luc)

Xo,

Miles

Short. Simple. And yet…

I swipe at my cheeks as I sit up and walk to my desk. I scratch out a note before I change my mind, because quite honestly, a very small part of me hates the thought of him being miserable.

Miles,

What’s your favourite colour?

Xo,

Stella

I quickly walk back down to the kitchen, where Chase and Liam are hovered over two plates of omelets. I hand Chase the letter to Miles without another word before heading back upstairs to work on social media for VeRue.

A couple of hours later, I get my first ever text from my husband.
