Maybe offering to learn more, while wearingfucking sweatpants, will help her realize that I’m serious about making this marriage succeed.
The light is on under her door, so I rap my knuckles against the wood twice.
“Come in,” she says, and I push the door open.
She’s sitting cross-legged on her bed, wearing nothing but a small tank top and underwear. As soon as she realizes it’s me, she pulls the duvet over herself.
I hold a hand up. “I think we’re past that,” I murmur, hoping she understands what a big deal it is for me to show up in her bedroom without a shirt.
Her throat bobs. “Everything okay?”
I hold up my phone. “I liked your post.”
She grins as she leans back in bed, andfuckif she isn’t the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen.Her.Just her. With wild curls, and soft, golden skin. No makeup. No fancy dresses. Just…her.
She’s radiant.
“I wasn’t sure if you would see it. I tried searching for you, but it appears my husband doesn’t have an account.”
I smirk as I walk over to the other side of her bed. “Chase showed me,” I tell her, climbing under the covers with her. My eyes rake over the way her chest flushes at my close proximity. At the way she pulls her lower lip between her teeth as her eyes scan my scars with mild interest. “And I realized, during my light stalking, that I know almost nothing about you.”
She gives me a sheepish smile as she pulls her knees up to her chest and rests her chin on top of it as she looks at me. Her hair is pulled up into a messy bun, and a blonde curl falls free over her cheek. Without thinking, I reach over and tuck it behind her ear.
“What do you want to know? I bet you know more than you think you do,” she adds.
“What’s your favorite color?”
She wrinkles her nose. “I don’t have one. If you haven’t noticed, I like them all.”
Huffing a laugh, I shake my head. “I should’ve known. Favorite travel destination?”
She considers this for a few seconds, looking over my shoulder as her brows furrow. “Probably Fiji. I went with my father during one of his philanthropic trips, and the people were so nice. It flies under the radar a bit compared to the other infamous islands, but everything about it was a dream.”
“Maybe we can go one day,” I tell her, my voice low.
Her cheeks go pink, andfuck, she’s adorable. “I’d like that.”
I look down at the orange duvet, considering my next question. “Why did you post about us? It isn’t a requirement of our deal.”
She shrugs. “I don’t know. I think I was just feeling appreciative,” she teases. I arch a brow as she continues. “I guess I just wanted everyone to know the Miles Ravage I’ve gotten to know over the last few weeks. And since I have a decent following, I thought getting a head start on repairing your image couldn’t hurt.”
“Well, you seem to have made us irresistible. Chase told me we’ve received fifteen inquiries since you posted it.”
Her mouth drops open, and her eyes shine with pride.
For me.
She’s proud of me. The idea hits me so suddenly, and with such force, that it’s as if someone is driving a stake through my heart.
“Miles, that’s amazing! Seriously? I’ll post everyday if that’s what it takes.”
I grab her shirt and tug her over to me. “I don’t deserve you.”
And then I kiss her, fully, with zero abandon and no qualms. Becausefuckif I can go another second without her pouty lips against mine. I need her. Everything. Her soft body. Her moans. Her goodness. Her heart. The way everything about her is romantic and sunny. Like she’s my sunshine, and I’m the dark planet orbiting her.
I hoist her up so her knees are straddling my hips. Guiding her over my length, she looks down at me with a wicked smile. Reaching up, I remove the hair band from her hair slowly, letting her soft curls tumble down her shoulders and chest.
“Miles,” she whispers, looking almost nervous.
