Page 17 of Reckless Hate

“Hi, Samantha.”

She was inside a classroom going towards her seat when a guy blocked her way.

“Ved might have turned you down,” the guy said, giving her a onceover with a creepy grin. “But I’m more than willing, baby.”

She looked at him with a blank expression. “Want to know what the special French technique is?” she asked.

The guy’s gaze turned sleazier. “Oh yeah, baby. Tell me.”

“It actually involves more teeth than tongue. It’s biting off the dick.”

The guy’s face turned pale as she said those words with an expressionless face.

He took a step away from her. “Psycho bitch,” he muttered before more or less running away.

No other guy bothered her for the rest of the class. But when it was lunch time, and she picked up food and stepped out, she did come across some hostile girls who continued to glare at her, especially the girl who she had seen hanging around Ved.

The girl approached her.

Samantha sat on the same bench that overlooked a large park, the one she had used the previous day.

“Stay away from my boyfriend.”

The girl and a couple of her sidekicks stood in front of the bench blocking the park view.

Samantha opened her carry-out box and took out her sandwich while the girl got worked up.

“Ved Simha is mine! Stop throwing yourself at him. He doesn’t want you!”

Samantha took a bite of her sandwich, allowing the explosion of flavors with caramelized onions and meat play on her taste buds.

“Did you hear what I just said!” the girl shouted. “Keep away from my boyfriend!”

Samantha was beginning to get annoyed. Food was something she liked to savor and enjoy. But thanks to her former best friend, he and then his fangirls were ruining her enjoyment.

“Does he know he is your boyfriend?” she asked the girl.

And just as she expected, the girl’s face began to turn deep red with anger and embarrassment.

The girl glared. “You don’t know who I am. I’m Keya Gupta! My father owns Gupta Media which is the third largest media house in the country! You are a scholarship student. A nobody! Ved Simha will never be with someone like you!”

Samantha’s annoyance turned into boredom. Thanks to the circle her mother and stepfather kept, she had come across such entitled men and women and their children before. They thought the world revolved around them and the highest importance was given to the family’s wealth and influence.

“I don't give a damn about him or whom he wants to be with. Now get out of my way and let me have my lunch in peace.”

The girl continued to glare. “You are lying! I know you want Ved. I’ve seen how you two looked at each other. This is not the end of it!”

With that dramatic statement, the girl turned and stormed away with her sidekicks running behind her.

Samantha sighed.I hate it here.

Even as she thought that she reminded herself of why she had to graduate from Simha.

Just one and a half years more.

She finished the rest of her sandwich and dropped the empty carry-out box into the recycle bin placed next to the bench. She got up to go to her last class.

While she walked, a thought snuck into her mind.
