Page 18 of Reckless Hate

Maybe the girl is his girlfriend.

The thought produced a strange ache inside her chest, which pissed her off.

Ved Simha was a full-on asshole who intended to make her life hell.

I give a damn about him or the girls he sleeps around with.

CHAPTER 9

Ved was at the Simha digital administration office building. He interned there as the student network administrator. He was checking on a network issue that was causing a glitch in the assignment portal.

Although there were well-qualified, highly paid network engineers hired by the university, they often asked him to look into high-priority issues since he had a knack of troubleshooting such issues effortlessly.

He had received an emergency call during basketball practice. He had to finish up the game and go right away to the building. He hadn’t had a chance to grab dinner. He had just sent an email to the senior networks team about resolving the issue and was looking forward to returning to the housing unit when his two cousins walked in with a box of pizza.

“You broke a dude’s nose this afternoon, and he’s causing a huge stink.” Ved’s cousin, Abhi, sounded amused.

Ved looked up from his laptop and shrugged. “It was an accident. I was stretching my arm, and he happened to be in the way.”

Rana raised an eyebrow. “That guy also happens to be a third-year textile engineering student.”

“So?”

His cousins looked at each other and then at him.

“It means that he’s in Samantha’s class,” Rana added. “The guy who supposedly asked her to give him a blow job.”

Ved’s jaw tightened at the reminder. He wanted to break the guy’s nose all over again.

Rana let out a laugh. “You do realize you are the one who spread the rumor that she offered you a blow job at the cafeteria bathroom?”

Ved knew his reasoning was quite twisted. He wanted to push her and break her to a point where she would choose to leave the university. But he didn’t want anyone to disrespect her.

She was his.

His to protect.

His to torment.

His to desire.

The last part of his thoughts made his jaw clench even harder.

He shrugged. “I’ll take care of the guy,” he said.

Abhi shook his head. “Not needed. We already did that.”

“Thanks.”

Ved knew his cousins would always have his back. They opened the box of pizza on the desk next to him, and he grabbed a slice.

Rana looked amused. “Abhi and you are getting out of control.”

Ved knew Rana was referring to Abhi’s confrontation with another new transfer student.

Abhi was dealing with a girl whose presence was also beyond shocking at Simha University. But Avantika Patel was sweet, shy and kind-natured as they had seen during an incident in the cafeteria the previous day. Abhi was having the devil of a time dealing with her since his cousin didn’t know whether to terrify the girl or kiss her.

But the girl Ved was dealing with was neither sweet nor shy. Samantha Roy was cold-hearted and emotionless.
