His eyes glittered as he looked back at her. There was a raw, intense look on his face that trembled her stomach.
One moment, he looked as if he hated her above all, and the next moment, he stepped closer and wrapped his fingers behind her neck before dragging her closer.
“You are lying,” he growled before he captured her lips with his.
Heat sizzled, and every nerve ending in her body seemed to come alive. She was stunned at her body’s reaction. It took a long moment before she realized who was kissing her. She bit her enemy’s lip hard until he jerked back.
As soon as their mouths parted, she raised her hand and slapped him hard.
His face whipped to the side with the sheer force of her slap, but he turned back to look at her. Their breaths came out in loud pants as they glared at each other with anger, hatred and something else that was alive between them.
Her blood continued to sizzle as tension and awareness she felt towards him turned overwhelming and could no longer be ignored. She didn’t know how it happened, but their mouths met again.
It wasn’t a kiss. It could barely be defined as a kiss. There was anger, lust and hatred as they bit into each other while their teeth clashed. Her fingers dug into the front of his tuxedo suit while the grip of his fingers returned to the back of her neck.
Her head spun, and it felt insane and overwhelming, but she couldn’t stop from losing herself in the moment. He pushed his tongue into her mouth and rubbed it everywhere inside as though seeking her taste. Her mouth filled with his taste and made her feel addicted like she was to his citrusy cologne.
Her heart beat hard and fast, drowning out all noises around them. It was only when she felt him freeze and stiffen that she heard the faint noise of someone calling their names amid the sound of blood rushing into her brain.
“Uh… Samantha?”
A bright flash went off. She jumped violently and shoved her enemy away from her. With her heart thudding, sheturned to see Rishi standing with two glasses of drinks. Next to him was a photographer who must have clicked a picture because the person looked happy as he walked away from the balcony.
Sucking in a deep, shuddering breath, she turned to her enemy. “Get out,” she said in a shaking voice. “And stay away from me.”
Ved Simha’s jaw clenched, and she could see he was fighting anger and something. He looked at her face for a long moment before walking away from her and going back to the party.
Her eyes remained on him, and her heart continued to race until he disappeared into the crowd.
“Darling… are you okay?” Rishi asked.
She turned to look at Rishi. He was still holding two glasses. She took the glass with water from him and gulped it down. She wanted to wash away the addicting taste of her enemy from her mouth. But the water couldn’t do it. She could not only still taste Ved Simha, she even felt his touch.
She grabbed the other glass with the bubbling golden liquid and gulped it down. The liquid burned her throat and tingled her mouth leaving a sweet flavor. Even though she could no longer taste her enemy, she could feel the bite of his kiss on her sensitive lips.
“What happened?” Rishi asked as he placed the empty glasses in a corner.
“The bastard grabbed me and kissed me,” she fumed.
Rishi raised an eyebrow. “Darling, I saw you grabbing him and kissing him right back.”
Her cheeks heated. “He kissed me first, and I slapped him before… that happened.”
Rishi blinked. “Wow.”
She gritted her teeth. She couldn’t believe she kissed back her enemy. And he proved to her that they had more between them than anger and hate.
“Do you want to leave?” Rishi asked as she stood there trying to bring her mind and body under control.
She took a few deep breaths before she answered. “No. I’m fine.”
Rishi looked concerned, but he nodded.
“Let’s get back to the event,” she said. “I want to dance.”
They walked back into the main ballroom and joined the dance floor. She continued to feel the heat of someone’s gaze on her, but she put on an effort and ignored it.
She knew it was her enemy.
