Page 63 of Reckless Hate

She looked at him with a small frown.

His mouth twisted into a wicked smile. “I need you to take me on a joy ride as a return favor to dinner.”

Her stomach sank, and then she was pissed. “I am not sleeping with you as a favor!”

The bastard just grinned devilishly. “I was talking about a bike ride.”

“No, you weren’t.”

There was a wicked sparkle in his eyes which made it obvious he deliberately riled her up. Taking a deep breath, she bit back curse words. The bastard was always trying to get a reaction out of her.

“I do want you to ride the bike, Sam. I’ll sit behind you.”

Her heart jerked hard, almost leaving her breathless.

“I’m going to ride the bike along the ocean at Simha University just like Papa did.”

Her best friend grinned. “And I’m going to be sitting right behind you when you do that.”

She recalled the conversation from their childhood when she had wanted to ride the bike along the ocean.

“No.”

“Why not?” he asked.

She was pissed that he asked her that question. He behaved as though nothing had happened between them and they were still friends from childhood, living out their dreams.

“I don’t want to ride a bike. Let’s head back to the campus.”

He watched her with a challenging smirk. “Don’t be a coward, Sam.”

She was pissed. She knew he was deliberately goading her. And it was working.

“Are you scared because you are no longer adventurous enough to try something new? Or you are scared that with me siting behind you, you’d be too distracted?”

She knew she could ignore his taunting and insist on returning. But seeing the knowing smirk on her enemy’s face once again brought out the reckless girl she was during childhood.

“I hope we fall and you break all your teeth!” she snapped before storming towards his bike and sitting on it.

The bastard grinned. “There’s sand all around us. So, our teeth and other body parts are safe.” He put a helmet on her but left the face shield open.

Her cheeks heated at the intimate gesture.

She waited while he sat behind her. Despite her anger, her stomach fluttered nervously anticipating his arms wrapping around her. But he didn’t hold on to her.

“Let’s ride,” his hot breath whispered next to her ear. “You don’t have to be fast. Just try to stay on top and make the ride smooth.”

Even though he was instructing her on the bike ride, his words sounded dirty. The bastard most likely knew that.

Sucking in a deep breath, she started the bike and accelerated it.

“Easy,” he said from behind her. His long hands held the handle bars from behind her.

The initial few moments were jerky, but soon she got the feel of it. He took away his hands from the bike handles and placed them on her shoulders instead.

Her heart raced with excitement as she rode the bike through the sandy beach along the shore. The ocean waves crashed against the sandy shore next to the bike and the wind blew in her face. She felt like a soaring bird with no worries. Her mind temporarily wiped away all the problems she had.

She didn’t know how long she kept riding, but she came to a stop when she knew they had to take a detour up to the road to get back to the campus.
