Samantha startled when she heard her enemy’s name. She looked up and saw that he was talking to someone at the far end of the room. He was in his basketball jersey. From the looks of him, he had come straight from practice.
Her heart began thumping. She had been deliberately avoiding him for the past five days. She hadn’t even gone to the cafeteria and ordered food to be sent to the workshop or her housing unit.
On instinct, she got up. Leaving her laptop, she quickly slipped into one of the bookshelf aisles. She kept going back until she was far away from where her laptop was placed. She knew she was behaving ridiculously and couldn’t avoid facing him for much longer. But she still hid from him anyway.
Biting her lip, she waited while she blindly stared at a book in front of her.
After what appeared to be a long time, hoping her enemy had left, she turned. She nearly jumped in shock when she saw him leaning against the bookshelf at the end of the aisle.
“I was wondering how long you’d stare at the book,” he said in an amused tone.
Feeling her cheeks heat, she sucked in a deep breath while he walked towards her. Her heart began beating faster at seeing his handsome, chiseled face after such a long time.
Annoyed, she kept her face blank.
“I never thought you’d be the kind to hide, Sam,” he said.
“I wasn’t hiding,” she snapped.
He raised an eyebrow before turning towards the books. “Interesting,” he said with amusement. “So, you are really thinking of borrowing the book ‘Explorer’s Guide to Planet Orgasm’?”
She turned to the book she was staring at and looked at it in shock. Her face heated when she realized she had wandered into the biology section where the sex education books were kept.
“What do you want, Ved?” she snapped, ignoring the embarrassment.
“I want you.”
Her heart jerked. “What?”
“I want your time. We still need to finish up the Outreach Program report.”
She sucked in a breath. “I’m already done with it. I can send it to you, and you can add or change things in it.”
He watched her, making her fidget slightly. His presence made her stomach flutter and her breaths turn heavier. The citrusy cologne combined with the clean musky smell of his sweat brought out something primal in her. She had to control her body from gravitating towards him.
“Running away is not going to stop it, you know,” he said.
“Stop what?” she asked, oddly breathless.
“The need. The urgency and the desire.”
Her breath caught in her throat when he stepped closer.
“One night isn’t enough to get rid of it,” he said. His eyes were dark and hooded. She knew he was aroused because that’s how he had looked during their night together.
Her breasts turned heavier, and the tips hardened. The throbbing she felt deep inside during late nights appeared once again in his presence.
“I feel it too,” he said huskily. “The hunger. The wild, uncontrollable need. The only way to get rid of this hunger is to feed it until it is sated.”
Her heart raced at his suggestion. “You are wrong. I don’t feel anything,” she lied.
She intended to sound firm, but her voice sounded breathless.
His eyes flashed as he smiled wickedly. “Liar,” he said. “I can see your pulse racing against your throat. If I slip my finger inside you, you’d be as wet as you were that night.”
Her face heated at his accurate assumption. Her core throbbed and clenched with need.
He leaned closer and bent his head to whisper against her mouth. “Let’s get rid of this hunger,” he suggested.
