But apparently, her enemy did join Rishi later. Her cheeks heated, wondering what Rishi must have thought with her enemy issuing a warning. Suddenly, another thought hit her, and she sat up straight.
“Did you hurt Rishi?” she demanded.
Her enemy lounged on her bed with his arms folded behind his head. “What do you think? I found the dude in your bed on the night you agreed to the deal.”
She was pissed. “If you hurt him, by God, I’m going to punch you in the face right now. I don’t care if the dean suspends me.”
Her enemy grinned. “Relax. Your friend is fine. He wasn’t even the slightest bit terrified. He even suggested that if things end between us, I should remember that he’d be my fanboy.”
She stared at him and a laugh burst out of her. That sounded like something Rishi would say.
She relaxed once again.
Her enemy’s large palm gripped the back of her neck as he pulled her close and gave her a toe-curling kiss. He then got off the bed and walked into her bathroom like he owned it. The jerk even brought his sports bag that held his body wash and change of clothes.
She rolled her eyes and put on her clothes. She then sat back against the bed before reaching for her iPad. She wanted to speak to Sohan. Although she had been speaking to him often, she had been missing him a lot lately.
Maria answered the video call and smiled. “Hello, Miss Samantha.”
“Hi, Maria. How are you? Is Sohan awake?”
Maria nodded. “Yes, he is. He just had milk and a banana. I’m fixing his breakfast.”
“Just place the iPad in the play area. I’ll watch him.”
Maria did as she asked before leaving the room to fix breakfast. Samantha looked at her brother happily playing with his toys. She didn’t want to disturb him because he would most likely ask when she was coming home. With Maria away, it would be hard to distract him from the question.
She was smiling and laughing at some of his antics when the iPad was picked up. She expected it to be Maria, but her skin crawled when she saw who it was.
“Hello, Samantha,” her stepfather greeted. He must have returned home from a party just then because he was in a wrinkled suit.
She didn’t respond to his greeting.
“How have you been?” he continued to speak. “You haven’t called me or your mother lately.”
She hadn’t called them even once. There was no need to. And if her mother really cared, she’d call to know how she was doing.
“I’ve been busy,” she said, not wanting to prolong the conversation.
“Hmm… busy doing what?” her stepfather asked. There was a creepy smile. “I hope you aren’t busy with your dating life. With a girl who looks as hot as you, I’m sure there are plenty of college boys who want some action.”
She didn’t say anything.
“Remember what I told you before you left, Samantha. Boys will always be boys. You need a man to bring out the woman in you. Only a man will know how to touch you and bring out your passion. Protect that treasure between your legs. Don’t let some yuppy take your virginity. Only a man should.”
Her stomach revolted at his words, but she kept a blank face. “It’s getting late here. I’ll call back later.” She ended the call.
Letting out a sigh, she kept the iPad away. She turned towards the walk-in closet area and nearly jumped when she saw her enemy standing at a distance wearing a towel, looking furious.
“What the fuck was that?” he growled out.
Her cheeks heated in embarrassment. “I was talking to my stepfather.”
“Yes, I figured that. But why was he talking to you like a fucking creep?”
She bit her lip and fell silent. Ved’s handsome face lost the frown, and he looked shocked.
“My God, Sam. Did he—?”
