“No!” she said. “He never touched me. But… he always makes me feel uncomfortable. He’s always talking in sexual innuendos.”
“What the hell is your mother doing about it? Why is she not kicking him out?”
Because her mother didn’t care. “She doesn’t believe me. She thinks I’m making things up for attention.”
He looked even more furious.
Something melted inside her heart, knowing he was angry on her behalf and that someone finally believed her when she said her stepfather was a creep.
“I’m glad you are out of that damn house,” he said.
She was glad too, but she wanted to get Sohan out as well. She didn’t tell that to her enemy yet. She didn’t want to unleash her personal problems to someone she was only going to have a temporary affair with.
But when her enemy slid into the bed and held her close, she didn’t feel as though he was someone who wouldn’t mean anything to her.
She knew it was only an illusion that her best friend was back in her life. Ved Simha wasn’t hers forever. He was only hers for a borrowed time.
It was only a matter of time before their shared past would flare up, and once again there would only be hatred between them.
CHAPTER 41
“The Simha cousins are gone, and the campus feels so boring.”
At Rishi’s dramatic statement, Samantha raised an eyebrow.
“I’m not saying that, darling. It’s in the newsletter. Although I do feel the Simha boys make the place alive.”
Samantha didn’t know about the rest of the students, but she did feel the absence of Ved quite keenly. Her enemy had been gone for three days to attend his aunt’s death anniversary event. He had whispered about it to her during the early hours while she was barely awake.
“I’m going home for my aunt’s anniversary, Sam. I’ll see you in a few days.”
She still felt the kiss he placed on her forehead before he left.
Her stomach fluttered nervously. Her enemy constantly kept her on her toes. She didn’t know what to think of their relationship. One moment, he was the wild, rough lover, and the next, he would be sweet and considerate. But no matter what he was in reality, she still craved her enemy’s presence like an addict.
What if he ends the deal when he returns?
Her heart ached at that thought. And there was a high possibility that could happen when he meets his parents that would trigger the past.
“What’s wrong, darling?” Rishi asked.
She blinked, realizing she was lost in her thoughts about her enemy. “Nothing,” she said. “I was just thinking about something.”
Rishi grinned. “Is that something named Ved Simha?”
Her cheeks heated despite trying to control her blush.
“It’s okay, darling. I already know.”
“Know what?”
Rishi grinned. “I know that you and Ved Simha have been indulging in a wild, passionate affair.”
Samantha was stunned. “Did Ved tell you that?” She was going to kill her enemy when he returned.
Rishi shook his head with a grin. “Nope. The lover boy only warned me off you. But he didn’t tell me about your secret affair. It’s not that hard to guess, you know.”
Samantha felt her face heating. “I don’t know what you mean.” She still clung to a hopeless cause because admitting it would make it too real that she was with the guy who had broken her heart badly in the past.
