“It would appear he can’t stay away.” Enzo winks and shakes his head when I finally manage to peel my gaze off Luca.
I roll my eyes. “Whatever.”
Luca leaves the kitchen and his eyes meet mine again as he ducks his head through the doorway and turns toward his office.
Enzo chuckles. “Crap at interpreting emotions, huh? Seems I’m better at it than you.”
“Again, shut up.”
“You do realize I know him better than anyone, right? His likes, dislikes, his type, what makes him tick. I’m probably the only one that can help you.”
I look up from the endless bin of utensils. “Why do you keep assuming I want him?”
His eyes bounce from my face to my chest. “Your bra isn’t padded.”
“What the fluff?” My hands instinctively cup my boobs.
He makes an‘O’with his mouth. “Nice.”
I drop my hands and shake my head.I walked right into that one.“Oh my god, you’re ridiculous.”
“Your bra isn’t padded—”
“So, I’m blessed in the boob department. What does that have to do with Luca?”
“Let me finish, woman.” He puts his hands up to stop my mouth. “Your nipples get hard when he’s around.”
My mouth falls open and my hands cup my boobs again. “They do not.” I look down, just to be sure.
Benny walks in and takes his usual seat at the end of the bar. I drop my hands and pull my hair over my shoulders, smoothing it down in front, covering my chest.
Nothing to see here.
Enzo grabs a glass, pours him a draft out of the tap and slides it over.
“They do. And it’s okay, he’s a good-looking guy.” He stands up straight and brushes his hands down his chest. “Runs in the family. I’m a little offended you haven’t granted me with the high beams but we’ve already determined we’re better off as friends.”
“You mean when you offered to take me home and I said no? Is that when it was decided?”
He looks over my head. “No, I really thought we were flirting until just now when you spouted off all that mushy, meaningful relationship crap. Totally killed my Blaze boner.”
I brush my hands through my hair and down my face. “I can’t believe this is my real life.”
He leans down in front me and rests his elbows on the bar. “Will you focus? I’m telling you I can help.”
I meet his eyes and chew on the inside of my cheek. I’ll admit Luca is intriguing, attractive even, and I’m drawn to him for some reason. No idea why. I’ve never been one of those girls swooning over the bad boys, so it has to be something else. It’s probably the people pleaser so deeply rooted in me that I can’t stand the factthat he doesn’t like me. So, my body is having a biological response when he’s around. That’s all it is. Probably some innate caveman defense mechanism trying to ensure my chances of mating and viable species preservation that evolution hasn’t taken care of yet.
Stupid biology.
I drop my eyes. “I’m good, but thanks.”
“Whatever you say. Why don’t you at least let me set you up on a date? You need to,” he gestures to my rigid form, hands white-knuckling the silverware bin, “release some tension. Look, I know a guy up in Oregon. He does this for a living. A weekend getaway, anything you need him to be.” He pulls out a business card and slides it across the bar.The Kylo Kent Experience.
I glance over to Benny, who raises one eyebrow and takes a sip of his beer. I lean over the bar and whisper, “I’m not having sex with one of your friends to relieve tension.”
I’m tense because I slept in my car, ash-hat.
“Then might I suggest some battery-operated relief?”
