“They weren’t enough for me either.” I drew closer to her on impulse, my hands running from her shoulders down her arms.
She shivered beneath my touch, a soft smile touching her lips as she looked up at me with hooded eyes.
“We could stay out late, walking under the streetlights for hours, and then sleep in until late in the day.”
“We wouldn’t be doing much sleeping,” I said, my voice dropping an octave as I rasped the words.
Her smile widened and turned to something heated and laced with seduction. “Come with me.”
“I will,” I whispered and leaned down.
My lips brushed against hers in a featherlight kiss that sent ripples of electricity shooting up and down my spine. Her arms wrapped around my neck and she stood on her toes, tilting her wide, full mouth over mine and deepening the kiss until I ran out of air.
It didn’t stop me. I couldn’t stop now. I’d missed her beyond comprehension and now we were alone. The door was locked. My office was empty, and so were the hallways and offices all around us.
At least, I hoped.
What I wouldn’t give for a single night of uninterrupted time with her again. A night where we could spend hours exploring each other and then talking until we fell asleep in each other’s arms.
I wanted that more than anything. I wanted a chance to be with her like she deserved. I wanted to be the first person she saw in the morning and the last person she saw when she went to bed at night.
I wanted the freedom to take her in my arms and kiss her like I was now.
I turned with her in my arms, one hand grazing up her back to her neck and holding her exactly where I needed her to stay. My tongue slid over hers and she moaned low in her throat, her eyes fluttering closed.
“You’re mine, Whitney. I want you in my life. I want you as my girlfriend, my partner.”
She opened her eyes and pulled away enough to look up at me. “I want that, too.”
“Then we do this. This is it. We go public.”
“Yes,” she said dreamily, her eyes shining as a weight lifted from our shoulders. “We have to.”
“We have to,” I agreed, then kissed her fiercely, my mind made up.
Damn the consequences. Damn this university. Damn these rumors that weren’t really rumors at all.
She was mine, and I was hers, and we’d be together despite everything thrown at us.
I backed her up until the back of her thighs brushed against my desk.
Thank goodness the door was locked because I was about to ravage her like I’d been imagining since the moment she stepped foot in my class last semester.
