He didn’t call meAngel.

I played with my fingers as I mustered up the courage to apologize to him and stop being a coward.

“I’m really sorry for the way I talked to you that night. It was uncalled for and I was extremely rude to cut you off while you wanted to speak. But you looked so tired and it annoyed me that you were so concerned for me while you weren’t taking care of yourself. Still, that doesn’t give me the permission to dismiss you. I’m really sorry, Nate.” I looked at him through my lashes, fucking scared that he wouldn’t accept my apology and leave me here.

When I heard him squeal, I raised my head surprised and he had covered his mouth as he looked away, his cheeks bright in color. What’s his problem?

“Angel, do you know what that means?” he asked as he took a deep breath in, putting his hand on his chest.

“What?” I asked cautiously, and he wiped a fake tear as he put his hand on my cheek, rubbing closely to my lips.

A huge smile grew on his face and my heart skipped another beat as the butterflies came to life in my stomach.

“That you care for me just as I care for you.”

Chapter 16

Nate

“Thank God we have the shoot today,” Jake grunted as he fixed his tie, all of the boys agreed with him as they stood in their assigned positions.

“Isn’t it a bit weird that we’re wearing black suits though? Normally when we have promotional photoshoots, we wear our uniforms?” another guy asked and a smile grew on my face as the only woman that mattered in my life right now walked into the studio.

Her identity card swayed around her neck with each and every step that she took, her black heels sounding lovely to my ears as she walked toward us. Dressed in black slacks and a beige button-up top, which again slipped off her shoulder.

I kept my composure and my hands to myself.

She looked gorgeous as always and it was a pity I couldn’t wrap my arms around her waist, pick her up, and spin us around while she giggled and screamed for me to put her down. Then thereafter we’d share a soft kiss, making everyonehere uncomfortable and jealous that they didn’t work with their significant other.

“Calm down, lover boy,” Andy whispered in my ear as he walked past me, greeting Avery with a kind smile.

“Ms. Avery, is there a reason we’re not in our gear?” Tom asked as he put his foot up on one of the suitcases that were part of the prop.

“Because we all know what you look like in your gear, people should also get to see you guys looking gentlemanly, don’t you think?” She smiled as she walked over to her brother, and helped him fix his tie.

Why him?

I pulled my tie down and walked over to them clearing my throat.

“My tie is loose too.” I pointed to it and Brian looked at me confused. “I should also get little sister benefits,” I murmured and he rolled his eyes, lightly chuckling.

“That actually looks good like that,” Avery commented as she adjusted the tie and I restrained the urge to drop my mouth, becausewhat? “It makes you look like a bad boy. Love it.” She patted my shoulder and turned around, walking over to the photographer and I put my hands on my waist.

“I thought we were supposed to lookgentlemanly?” I heard Andy snicker behind me, but I was hugely offended. I felt like I wasn’t as appreciated as everyone else. Wasn’t I supposed to be getting princess treatment?

“Don’t ask Avery about her job, Nate. She knows better. Now come stand or I will increase your fitness time,” Brian scoldedand I groaned, right as I stuck my tongue out. I saw her look over at me and smile.

Right, it was sooo amusing.

“Don’t talk to me like you’re my dad,” I muttered as I stood on his right side while he sat down on the chair that was positioned in the center of the stage. I was instructed to put one hand on the chair, and the other in my pocket, and he smiled as he looked up at me.

“Look at you, my delinquent son,” he teased and the guys around us chuckled and I raised my middle finger at him before I put it on the chair as instructed.

“Alright, remember it’s a promotional shoot. What I’m looking for today is seduction and class, all that the cologne brand promotes. Make people believe they could be like you guys. Got it?”

Avery was so sexy whenever she went into work mode, she rarely smiled and as mean as her words sounded, there was something about them that sparked a fire in me.

Oh, I am going to give seduction, class, and sexy. I’m the bad boy of the group after all.
