She was so different, demanding, and sure in her choices, and fuck me, that made me fall for her even harder.
“Beautiful,” the photographer commented and Avery nodded, her eyes finally met mine and I wondered if she could feel just how strong my desire for her was. Even if she could see just how much my eyes were screaming for her attention, she was great at pretending as if she didn’t see anything.
She pushed her hair behind her ears and raised her clipboard almost covering her entire face, and I smirked as I looked away from her and stared into the camera.
Soon enough, we were done with the shoot and we were obliged the opportunity to see some of the photographs. Just as I had said before, Avery really had a great vision my goodness.
All of them were executed just as she had planned and there was so much character in the pictures and everyone kept praising her for how good she was at her work, making her blush.
It was so fucking cute to see her smile and giggle as much as she did today, even though I wasn’t the only one responsible for it. And it was great to see everyone getting along with her.
“Ms. Avery, why don’t you join us for a couple of drinks down at the bar to seal today huh?” Tom asked and she shook her head as she shifted her weight from one leg to the other. She must be tired.
“I can’t, I have to get started in sorting out which images to use so that Carl can edit them,” she said as she raised her tablet.
“That’s a bummer. Next time make sure you join us, alright?” Jake said as he threw his arm around Brian’s shoulder, pulling him along.
“See you at the bar, Nate?” Andy raised his eyebrows and I nodded. If I avoided the drinks, it would be a huge thing about how I rarely spend time with them lately. “Cool.”
Once most of the people had left, I walked closer to her and she looked at me surprised.
“Do you have a change of shoes?” I asked as I noticed her bringing her leg up to relieve the pain.
“Yeah, I’m gonna go to my office and change into flats now.”
“Okay.” I nodded as I took my jacket off and draped it around her shoulders. “Make sure you dress warmly when you reach your office, okay?”
“It’s not that cold today,” she argued as she slipped her arms through the sleeves and I shook my head.
“Not an excuse, dress warmly. If you get sick, I’ll have to smother you back to health, and you don’t want that,” I warned and she giggled as she pointed to the door.
“Go before your boys start wondering where you are.”
“I’ll just tell them I was talking to my darling angel.” I grinned as I walked backward toward the door and she finally blushed for me! “Unless you want me to stay?” I offered as I held the door knob and she waved at me.
“Go, enjoy the drinks!”
“Don’t miss me too much, alright?” I winked and she giggled as she shook her head and I left her in the studio.
I made my way to the bar, which was part of our building because they wanted to promote safe drinking and for whenever they had office parties.
The boys were already rowdy and I wondered what exactly they were excited for because we had an upcoming match soon and we still had so much practice to go through.
I walked toward Brian, who was leaning against the counter, and occasionally looking up at the screen where the baseball match between the Chicago Grizzlies and the Manhattan Vipers was replaying for the umpteenth time.
I gently slapped his back and he nodded as he passed me my drink and we clicked our glasses.
“Where’s your jacket?” he asked as he looked me up and down and I pointed behind me.
“I left it along with the tie. They were choking me,” I lied and he scoffed as he shook his head.
“I wonder what you wear when you go on dates with your lady,” he laughed and I shrugged. And at this point, the guilt wasn’t because I liked his sister and that I was keeping it from him.
It was the fact that I was okay staring into his eyes and lying to him every day, and I felt okay with that.
It’s fucked up.
“You know I never really liked the suits and ties,” I said and he nodded as he looked back at the screen, watching as the pitcher of the Grizzlies threw the ball earning him another strikeout. The man was too good at his job, it was a pity he retired this year.
