When a visiting folklorist comes up missing near where my logging crew is camped, I’m the one who finds her; huddled in a cave, covered in scratches, and too terrified to answer the search team combing the woods looking for her.

Young and innocent, with curves like the mountain road that winds up to my work site; there was a time when I’d have pounced on Ivy like a big cat on prey. But one look in her trusting, emerald eyes, and I find myself planning to protect her forever.
