Chapter 23

Leona

“Fuck baby...” Eagle wrapped his arms around me so tightly it squeezed the air out of me, but I didn’t care. It felt good to be crushed in his strong arms and cared for.

“Where are the others?” Wolfe growled in a panicked tone.

I glanced back toward the area where I’d left them. “They’re coming.” The girls had already left the trees and were rushing toward their men. Heads turned in their direction, and then the men took off toward them.

“Wolfe!” Ella fell into his arms with relief. He enveloped her tightly and kissed the top of her head.

Eagle’s hand began to pat over my hair. “Was fucking worried about you.” He held me crushed against him protectively. “Did they hurt you?”

I shook my head. “No. They just dumped us into a cage and took off.”

“A fucking cage?” he snarled as his body grew tense.

“Yes.” I burrowed into him, as if willing his body to absorb mine.

I could hear the commotion behind me as the other girls were reunited with their men. It was completely dark now, and all I could make out were the outline of their shapes when I glanced in their direction.

“Come here,” I heard Lynx say, and I could see him grab Lola to him and crush her in the circle of his arms. “Christ, woman, I’m going to have a fucking heart attack before I even claim you.”

His intentions were clear. Lola didn’t say anything in return but accepted his strong embrace. Bear picked Val up and began to walk back to his bike. She must have told him that she’d hurt her foot. Mac was comforting Jillian, their murmurs too low to make out.

“We got to get them back to the house,” Wolfe growled, turning Ella toward his bike.

I recognized Brew’s voice when he asked, “You want the rest of us to go on?”

“How many Maniacs were there?”

Ella responded to Wolfe’s inquiry. “We didn’t see any more than the four men who took us.”

“Any of you girls hurt?” Eagle turned me away from his arms, and we began to walk toward the road, his arm over my shoulder.

“Val stepped on a nail—”

“Not what I meant, darlin’.”

The girls murmured their responses, setting the men at ease.

Then Lola spoke up. “They have my dogs.”

“We’ll get them back,” Lynx promised.

I turned toward Eagle once we reached his bike. “How did you know where to find us?”

He stared down at me for what seemed a long time. “You don’t need to worry about that.”

He surprised me by pushing me against his bike and devouring my lips. Arousal surged through me in record time, but his kiss was over almost as soon as it began. I could barely hold in my moan of disappointment, but I realized that now was not the time. He surprised me a second time by lifting me onto the seat of his bike.

“Okay, listen up,” Wolfe began once everyone was sitting on their bikes. “We’ll take the girls to the clubhouse. They’ll be safer there. Then we’ll come back to deal with the Maniacs and get the dogs back.”

“What about Delta?” I asked with concern.

“She’s with Coke at the vet’s office,” came Wolfe’s brief answer.

“No!” Ella cried out, burying her face in his back.
