Page 118 of Falling for You

“Guess I’ll just have to keep reminding you why you fell for me in the first place, then.”

Gah. I can’t wait.

“It’s time, babe. It’s time!” Chloe’s voice is full of excitement as she nudges me awake. Her hair is still wet and she smells incredible. Fresh and clean and I really want to snag her around the waist, and pull her under me.

“What?”

“It’s. Time!”

“Shit.” I spring up out of bed, trip over the damn cat that never leaves my side, catch myself on the curtains in our bedroom and right myself.

“Are you okay?” Chloe asks, laughing before groaning.

“I’m good. Yeah. Are you?”

“Of course. I’m excited.”

“Me too, babe. But I’d be more excited if you would have let me sleep a bit longer.”

“I can’t help it! This isn’t on me and you know it.”

I grin. It’s not her fault. It’s actually mine. I was the one who suggest we elope and promised to take care of everything, including getting our flights scheduled for so early in the morning.

“You know, it’d be nice if you told me where we were going.” She grins over her already packed suitcase. The one I packed for her so she’d be surprised when our plane touches down.

“Where’s the fun in that?”

“Being prepared is always fun. One of my best friends always tells me ‘Life favors the prepared’ and here you are, making me go in unprepared.”

I roll my eyes heavenward. “Could you be more dramatic? It’s six days and the only hint you’re getting is that you won’t need a lot of clothes. I think you can manage.”

“Rex. I’m pregnant and quite emotional. Don’t you think that’s enough for one person to handle?”

“Nope.”

I go to the bathroom and start the shower then poke my head back into our bedroom. “Hustle up, gorgeous. Our flight leaves in two and a half hours.”

She growls, “Why do you do this to me?”

“Because I like to keep life interesting.”

Grumbling, she moves around in the bathroom, getting herself ready while I shower. I can hear her singing and it makes me grin. She has such an awful singing voice but I can’t wait until I hear her singing lullabies to our baby.

Forty-five minutes later, we’re pulling into the airport. She’s freaking out because she swears we’re going to miss our flight if we aren’t there a full two hours early. I’m trying not to laugh at her panic. I hate sitting around in airports waiting for my flight. She’s the one who would spend the night in the airport the night before if she could. So we balance each other out well.

I checked us in online and printed our boarding passes at home and since we’re not checking any bags, we make it through to the security line quickly. Which, isn’t busy in the least. Fifteen minutes later we’re standing at our gate. She’s staring at the words on the screen, a smile on her face as bright as the sun.

“We’re getting married in the Keys?”

“We are. That cool with you?”

“Heck yeah! Rex! This is…” she leaps into my arms and I catch her easily. She’s gained a few pounds because of the pregnancy, but she’s still easy to carry and so damn sexy. Sexier, if I’m being truthful. Seeing her round with my baby is the biggest turn on. “Perfect. It’s perfect.”

“That’s good because there’s no turning back now,” I tease.
