Quietly, I got up and got dressed. Colton didn’t move. He was clearly a heavy sleeper.

I didn’t mind so much.

I slipped out of his apartment and called an Uber from the parking lot. The sun was starting to rise, and I watched it until my car arrived.

Twenty minutes later, I let myself into the hotel room, yawning.

The room was empty.

Marilyn must’ve gotten lucky, too.

That was fine. I wanted to be alone for a minute, anyway. I took a long, hot shower and crawled into bed in comfy pajamas, hugging my pillow tight.

That had been fun.

Even if nothing else happened, this had already been worth it.
