My rage grows, as I think about how everything bad that has ever happened to me was caused by the bitch standing naked beside my father. Neither of them decided to put on clothes, the evidence of their love-making clear as day—from the bite marks my father left on her skin, to the hickeys she left on his.
Without thinking, I rush forward, my hands turning into fists as I aim for my father. He is to blame for all of this. Had he justlistened to my mother and kept me home instead of taking me to Blood Oath all those years ago, Marilyn’s mother wouldn’t have died. I wouldn’t have been forced into an arranged marriage, but most importantly, Kaylee and I would be mated and preparing to take over Oak Fur as alpha and Luna.
My fist opens, and my nails form into claws. I swipe them along his face the same way Kaylee did to me all those weeks ago and relish in the feeling of his skin tearing. If I have to wear scars because of him, then he can wear them too.
I duck when he moves to punch me, coming back up and sending an uppercut to my father’s chin, and enjoy the satisfying crunch of bone breaking from my attack. My father staggers back, howling in pain, and I aim lower. Without hesitation, I aim my claws at his family jewels, ready to make him unable to have any more pups. Unfortunately for me, I am tackled from behind.
Twisting and turning, I fight my assailant, only to find my father staring down at me with a smirk.
“I linked for backup,” he gloats, pulling Marilyn to his side and placing a sloppy kiss on her lips.
“You’re a fucking coward, Ramos!” I spit out as three warriors pull me to my feet, their faces blank masks as if what they just witnessed didn’t happen.
“And you will be on house arrest until your wedding.” He shrugs as the warriors drag me out of the office. I try to link Simon and Kurt, but I hit a brick wall. Try to reach out to those that will be fleeing tonight, but another brick wall. That bastard closed my connection to the link.
“Sorry, Alpha Lucas, but we have our orders to lock you in your room,” one of the warriors states, as the three men drag me up the stairs. I stay silent, knowing that my father also placed an alpha command on them and that anything I say now will be reported back to my father.
“Will I be able to see anyone?” I ask, deciding not to cooperate with these men and allow my weight to hang from their arms.
“Beta Kurt and Simon Thorn will be told to bring you your meals.” I grin. At least I will get to see my two friends. The men throw me into my room none too gently, not apologizing for their treatment of me. I know they are relishing being able to treat an alpha wolf like trash, and I commit their faces to memory. One day, I will kill every last one of my father’s henchmen. Right now, I need to focus on getting out of Oak Fur.
The door slams shut before the sound of the lock turning alerts me that I am trapped. I know Marilyn is watching me, and let out a roar of frustration. This bitch has taken too much from me. She won’t take my privacy. I spend the next few minutes searching for all the hidden cameras I found earlier, finding a few new ones and ripping them from their hiding spots. I grin as I do one final sweep of the room and hold the last camera at eye level.
“You may think you have won, but let me tell you something, Marilyn,” I begin, deciding to leave a message to that bitch.
“I would rather die than marry you. Would rather be killed by your father. So, enjoy this moment, but just know a storm is coming, and I am the one to cause it.” With my warning sent, I smash the final camera and smirk. Walking to my bedside table, I pull out the laptop from inside the drawer and climb into bed.I know Kurt told me to email the video to Nathaniel Cross, but I have a better idea.
Pulling up my email list of all my packmates, I spend the next hour copying and pasting the emails into my burner account, including all alphas of allied packs as well as Oak Fur’s liaison from the council.
With a grin, I put every last bit of evidence into the email that I have been able to gather from the time Marilyn came to live in the pack, before setting the mass email to automatically send in twenty-four hours. Now, I need to prepare for my escape.

Kaylee
Staring at the plan for tomorrow afternoon, when the new alpha of Shadow Moon arrives, I silently cheer when my cell phone rings, and throw the file onto my desk before picking up my cell and answering the unknown caller.
“Kaylee Kingsley, beta of Ivory Fangs,” I answer, catching the sounds of a group of people running.
“Kaylee, it’s Kurt. Simon gave me your number.” Recognizing Beta Kurt’s voice, I sit up as something inside me nags that this situation is serious. Kurt only talked to Amelia while Simon talked with me during our plans to save those running from Ramos’ clutches.
“What happened?” I ask, getting up from my office chair and making my way down the hall. I knock on the door, and a moment later Amelia answers for me to come in.
“Kurt is on the phone,” I state, turning on my speaker and placing the phone on her desk. David is sitting on the sofa by the window, but as soon as I rush in, he bounds over to his mate’s side.
“You have Amelia, David, and I,” I call out. Kurt lets out a sigh of relief, before shushing the people he is with.
“We have a situation. Ramos is fucking Marilyn.” Shocked, I find myself lowering into the nearest seat as Amelia and I look at one another.
“What?” I ask, unsure if I heard Kurt correctly.
“Ramos is fucking Marilyn, and Lucas and I found out,” Kurt repeats. I run a hand along my face and close my eyes. The trial makes so much sense now. Ramos was protecting his lover, not the pack, by making Lucas reject me.
“I have the last twenty-five wolves that want to escape. We are making our way to safety, and I can’t tell you where just yet. But Lucas was placed on house arrest.”
“What about Simon?” Worried for my best friend, I stand from my chair and pace back and forth. I would be lying if I said I didn’t care about Lucas, but he chose a whore over me.
“I can’t say anything, for his safety, but know that there is a plan. I will give you more details later,” Kurt answers. I sigh with relief while standing by the window, looking outside to stare at the pack under the light of the moon.
