“I have a feeling Shadow Moon might know soon, as news like this spreads fast, but they were all pretty drunk last night,” Amelia muses, bringing me from my thoughts. I hum in agreement, relishing in the hot caffeinated drink and putting my thoughts of my ex-mate and his mother aside. The bonfire went well into the late hours last night, ending sometime around three in the morning. With it currently being eight in the morning, coffee is a goddess-given gift right now.

“I just wonder how Marco and Royce are faring. They drank a lot, once the Shadow Moon wolves let loose,” I joke, getting a chuckle from David.

“Last I heard, Marco was found passed out in a bush by a patrol halfway to his house, three hours ago,” he states. I nearly choke on my mouthful of coffee, as I fight the urge to spit the drink out.Since we gained the three brewers from Oak Fur, our pack has been enjoying their moonshine creations, and with the idea from Titus of selling the alcohol deep in my mind, I plan to mention it to Amelia and David after the meeting with Alexander.

“Good morning!” Speaking of the lawyer, Alexander walks in with a cheery smile, his briefcase in hand. Before we can greet him, Titus and Alpha Jordan wobble in, both looking pale and worse for wear, while Alpha Jordan carries a briefcase in his hands as well.

“I take back what I said last night. I don’t want to buy the liquor,” Titus groans, taking a seat across from me and eyeing my mug of coffee. I chuckle and point to the machine just three feet away, and Titus groans again, his head plopping onto the table with a loud thud.

“I got it,” Alpha Jordan sighs, placing his briefcase on the table and moving to the machine. Pouring two cups of coffee, he brings them to the table and reaches for the cream and sweetener, while Titus reaches for milk and sugar. Their movements are almost robotic, like some sort of routine, and I watch in amusement.

“Well, I have the copies emailed to us by your lawyer, but I am guessing you brought your own?” Alexander speaks, his keen eyes staring at the visiting alpha. Alpha Jordan lets out a growl and, without hesitating, I growl back, giving the alpha a warning. He is in our territory, and I refuse to allow him to disrespect our members. He stops his growling, looking at me with curiosity and greed, and I allow him to feel my power. He may be an alpha, but I will gladly take him on in a fight if need be.

“Behave, Alpha Jordan. You are on my land,” Amelia warns, giving me a small nod. I pull back my power and stop my growling, giving the man one final glare before I move to fill my mug with more coffee before returning to my seat.

“And this is why I am the one who handles the small talk,” Alexander grumbles, making David chuckle.

“Let’s get this business taken care of, and then you two can return to your lodgings and deal with your hangover,” David suggests, his calm aura radiating in the room. It reminds me of a Luna, soft and caring, and I am happy that he is here as Alpha Jordan relaxes.

“Agreed. That blasted moonshine your pack makes packs a punch. We can negotiate a trade treaty when you decide what to do with it,” Alpha Jordan grumbles, opening his briefcase and handing out manila envelopes to everyone at the table. I take mine wordlessly, pulling the papers out, and quickly skim them. It is the same as the one that was sent in the email, and I inwardly sigh. At least he hasn’t done anything underhanded.

Looking at the apology letter mixed in, I scan it before pulling out the list of compensations from land to money that Ivory Fangs will gain.

“Everything still seems the same,” Amelia shrugs noncommittally, but I can sense the excitement in her. Fifty acres of land is a lot for a growing pack, as well as the three million dollars that will be sent our way. We spent a lot of money to rebuild Ivory Fangs and buy the necessary materials needed.

“Good. If we can all agree and sign the paperwork, then I can get back to my room and sleep off the moonshine,” Alpha Jordansighs. Alexander asks to look through all the papers, taking another hour to scan through and with a grin, he hands the pen and stack of papers to Amelia. From there, a signing line is formed, going from Amelia to David, to Alpha Jordan, then Titus, and finally to me. The last person to sign the dotted line is Alexander, who happily hands a copy back to Titus and Alpha Jordan.

“Thank the goddess. If you need me, don’t,” Alpha Jordan grumbles stuffing his and Titus’ copy into his briefcase. With a small farewell, the two shuffle out of the room. Something nags at me though, and I link one of the warriors to send our sneakiest members to keep an eye on the Shadow Moon wolves.

“Now. Amelia tells me you have an intriguing email to show me,” Alexander calls out as soon as the door closes.

Lucas

Staring at the buses and vans sent by Ivory Fangs as they pull into the parking lot, I watch as my wolves bounce with excitement. We have spent a total of three days here relaxing, but also watching over our shoulders with fear in case my father came looking for us.

“Alpha Lucas?” a man asks, as he steps down from the bus and makes his way towards me.

“Just Lucas, please, mister…?” I answer, stretching my hand out to this wolf. He scoffs at my hand and walks over to Simon, hugging the man with a wide grin on his face.

“Simon! Finally joining the pack, I see?” The man steps towards Simon and pulls him into the hug, the two wolves seeming like best friends.

“Yeah. Oak Fur has nothing for me, and Lilac is at Ivory Fangs,” Simon answers as a few more wolves step from the vans and bus. A total of eight wolves. Another one steps towards me, this one burlier than the others with a silent disposition.

“Don’t mind Ash. He is just protective of a mutual friend we all know,” this man states with a deep voice. He reaches his hand out to me, and I shake it. He seems nicer than his companion at least.

“Edison, second-in-command of the warriors. Ash is second-in-command of the hunters,” Edison introduces with a nod to his friend, as we watch Ash and Simon chat happily with one another.

“Who is this mutual friend of ours?” I ask, curiosity getting the better of me. Edison just stares at me before letting out a scoff, as he walks away from me towards Kurt, who is helping the Ivory Fangs wolves store our belongings away between the three vehicles. My wolves file onto the bus one by one, their excitement at being free contagious as I feel their link to Oak Fur blink out one by one. They were denouncing their allegiance to Oak Fur, marking themselves as rogues until they can find a new pack, and I couldn’t be happier for them. They were lesser warriors and omegas, their ranks being ones that Ramos would have used as cannon fodder if a war broke out between Oak Fur and Blood Oath. Now, they will get a chance to grow stronger.

“You and I are riding in the van,” Simon calls out as Ash moves to help with organization.

“And why would we be taking one of their vans, and not sitting on the bus?” I ask, watching a guilty look cross Simon’s face.

“Because Ash wants to punch your face in for hurting Kaylee.” For a moment I freeze as I think about what Simon just said. Ash hates me because of Kaylee. For a moment my mouth opens and closes as I try to think about how to respond.

“How the hell do they know Kaylee?” I finally splutter, looking at the wolves that were sent to grab us. It explains why these wolves give me the cold shoulder whenever they come near me.
