“Sooner or later, you will be begging for me to keep touching you,” he muses, licking his lips as his fingers move away from my upper thigh to my knees, as he straightens back into sitting. I say nothing, wondering if all the alphas of Shadow Moon took some crazy pill.
“You are probably wondering why I took you,” he continues, not caring about my outburst or my glares.
“It’s simple. I need a mate, and you just so happened to be available.” He shrugs like it means nothing, while my glare turns into a look of shock and incredulity. Did he really think I would mate him when I find him repulsive?
“I know what you are thinking,” he states with a chuckle.
“You are wondering if I think you will willingly mate with me, but I have my ways to change your mind.” Scooting closer to me, his fingers bring a lock of my hair to his face where he sniffs it, a creepy smile on his face.
“I have a few aphrodisiacs that I will use on you if you resist, but I hope lying in bed with little food to eat and wolfsbane coursing through you will allow you to see that I control your every move now. You are mine, Kaylee, whether you like it or not.” A feeling of unease fills me as I look at this deranged man. I knew he had desired me the moment he stepped out of his vehicle, but to know he would go as far as to kidnap me made me realize just what sort of man we let onto Ivory Fangs' land. He killed his father and kidnapped me, for goddess’ sake, who’s to say he won’t harm Ivory Fangs if I don’t go along with it? Deciding I need to buy some time for my pack to learn where I am, I steel myself and look into Alpha Jordan’s eyes. I will have to play along if it means getting away safely to warn Amelia and the others.
“Can you give me a week?” I ask, watching Alpha Jordan look at me in surprise.
“What?” he asks, shocked. I decide to be as honest as I possibly can, in hopes that this gamble plays off.
“Give me a week to decide if I want to be your mate naturally, please,” I answer, giving him what I hope is a helpless smile.
“By now you must have seen the email Lucas Rider, formerly heir of Oak Fur sent out. He rejected me, and honestly, I am still healing from the pain,” I admit, watching the realization in Alpha Jordan’s eyes light up. I gingerly push myself up, wincing from the slight pain caused by the wolfsbane in my system. I will need to burn off as much as I can when alone.
“I almost died when I finally released the pain, after becoming beta to Ivory Fangs. MyfriendMarco helped me, as he has been through it himself, and that’s how I survived.” Continuingmy explanation, I emphasize the word friend to show that this is how I feel about Marco, hoping this would protect him from Alpha Jordan’s wrath.
“So, I ask for a week, to finish healing and to get to know you.” Staring into his eyes, I watch as he works through my request with the information I give him. Had the wolf before me given me time and more meetings to get to know him, he would have been a good candidate for a mate. But since he is twisted enough to take me from my home, then he isn’t the one I will end up with. I can’t trust someone who takes without asking.
“Deal, on two conditions,” he finally states, holding up two fingers.
“What are they?” I ask, feeling relieved my gamble paid off.
“You are not allowed to leave this room after eight o’clock at night.” He lowers one of his fingers, making me wonder just what he is hiding that takes place after eight p.m.
“And you have to have breakfast and lunch with me. I will remove the wolfsbane from the food if you are serious about giving this a chance.” Happy to know I won’t be receiving any more wolfsbane, I hold my hand out towards him, a genuine smile on my lips.
“Deal.” He takes my hand in his and carefully lifts it to his lips, placing a kiss on the back of it. I suppress a shiver of disgust and feign being bashful, pretending to look away. In reality, I am trying to peer through the hidden door that he came through and notice clothes hanging. I knew by the lack of windows that I was in a hidden room, but who knew it was behind a closet?
“Where am I?” I ask out of curiosity, returning my gaze to Alpha Jordan, who stares at me as if he just won the best prize at the county fair.
“In the pack house of Shadow Moon. Don’t worry though, I have our house being constructed as we speak,” he answers, reaching out with his free hand to caress my cheek. Once again, I am left speechless by this insane wolf, and pray that I find a way to escape or am saved. I try linking Amelia and David, with our familial bond being the strongest but realize that there is too much wolfsbane in my system still. I will have to wait until it has weakened a bit to reach them and ask for help.
“Sounds lovely. It’s more than anyone has done for me,” I praise him, hoping to stroke his ego. His smile grows soft as he looks at me, and after telling me he has work to do, he tells me to rest and that someone will be by to bring me food, before kissing my cheek. I wait for him to leave the room before furiously wiping away his kiss and shuddering from all the disgust I feel. But he is right, I need to rest and hurry up with removing the wolfsbane from my system.
Closing my eyes, I focus on the power of my bloodline within. I can feel my body hum as I allow the power to seek out and force the wolfsbane from me. Within a few seconds, I am sweating and can tell that the amount that was used on me will take a few days’ time to push out of my system. One thing is for sure though, as soon as I feel better, I will be aiming to kill this wolf and destroy his family’s influence.

Kaylee
The sound of the hidden door opening forces me to stop what I am doing, and I wait to see what Alpha Jordan wants. By my estimate, and with how much of the poison I have been able to burn with my power, an hour has passed since I woke up. To my surprise, a blonde she-wolf wearing a black collar walks in with a tray of food. By her small, shaking frame, I would put her as an omega, but it is not the fact she is in the room that surprises me, more the fact that she has bruises on her that indicate she has been used for sex.
“He did it to you, didn’t he?” I ask, watching her stiff form become even stiffer. I can tell she is terrified of saying anything to me, so I do not ask anything further, allowing the girl to do her job. She tidies the room in a robotic fashion as I look at the tray of food she left beside me—a bowl of soup and some bread. Lifting the bowl, I sniff the contents, trying to find any trace ofwolfsbane, and let out a sigh of relief. It seems Alpha Jordan kept his word of not tampering with my food.
Skipping on the spoon set on the tray, I drink the soup straight from the bowl and feel some strength return to me, thanks to the food. The omega watches me curiously as I silently eat my meal. After the soup is done, I set the bowl down before taking the bread and sniffing it. Once I am sure it hasn’t been tampered with as well, I tear into it.
“Ask it,” I state, watching the hesitation and fear as she flinches from my small command.
“You…are you really going to mate with the alpha?” she asks, both hope and worry in her gaze and voice. I hesitate to answer, watching the girl for a moment before deciding I can be honest.
“I am not sure yet,” I shrug, taking a bite of the nearly finished bread.
“I asked for a week to get to know Jordan more and decide then. Can’t build a relationship on distrust and lies,” I continue, addressing Alpha Jordan informally to keep up my charade, before popping the last of the bread into my mouth.
