Page 29 of Always Been You

“You should talk to him, Liv,” Emily encourages.

“I haven’t heard of a single long-term relationship that he has had. Is he someone who does relationships?” Liv asks incredulously.

“I think he just needs the right person,” Em says. They sit in silence before they move their conversation on to other summer plans.

I clear my throat a minute later, and the girls turn their heads and look at me. I smile at them. “You ladies ready to go?” They both nod their heads and push up from the benchthey are sitting on. I hold the door open for them and then follow them into the living room.

“Mom, we are going to head home. I have to drop Em off at her place. Thank you for dinner. I’ll call you this week.” I hug her and place a peck on her cheek before moving on to give my dad a quick hug.

“Thank you so much for having me tonight, Eleanor,” Olivia says as my mom pulls her into a hug. “Anytime Olivia, I hope we will see you more often,” Mom says as she looks at me with a look in her eye like she knows something that the rest of us don’t. I’ve been getting that look from people more often lately.

I help Emily and Olivia into their jackets before we head out to the car.

“I’m being dropped off first. You take the front seat, Liv,” Em calls as we round the front of the car toward the passenger side. I open both doors for them and they climb in. I let Emily hook her phone up to the speakers in my car and the girls talk the entire way to SFU about different artists and other random topics. It’s nice seeing how easily Emily and Olivia get along.

I pull the car up to the parking lot in front of Emily’s dorm and turn to Olivia. “I am going to walk Em up, stay here and keep the doors locked.” She nods at me. I get out and walk around and help Em out of the car, and we head up to her dorm room.

“I think you’d be good for her,” Emily says once she opens the front door of her building.

“What do you mean?” I ask her.

“You don’t need to play dumb with me, Josh. I know you well, and I have known this for years. You like Olivia, and more than as a friend.”

I furrow my brows. I didn’t think anyone else had known, let alone my little sister.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” I say.

“Cut the crap, Josh. You might be my big brother, but I still know a thing or two. You like that girl and based on the way she blushed when talking about you and that list, she likes you too. My advice, make a move before she finds another man to move on with.”

I figure there is no point in hiding it from her anymore. “Okay, what do you recommend I do?”

“Do something that lets her know you want more, but be careful with her, okay? Only make a move if you are ready to build something with her.”

Emily sticks her key into the door and unlocks it, opening the door she steps in and looks at me, “I am Em, thank you,” I give her a hug and a kiss on top of her head, “Goodnight, Em, I love you.”

“Love you too Josh, go back to Liv.”

I step back into the hall and Emily closes her front door. When I hear the click of the lock, I make my way back to the car. Getting into the driver’s seat, Olivia’s head leans against the window. It appears she has fallen asleep.

I keep the music quiet as I drive us home and use the time to think over my conversation with Emily; I need to let Olivia know I want more with her. When I get to the parkade, she stirs and rubs her eyes before looking at me with a small smile. I smile back and pull the car into the parking spot. I get out and round the front of the car and open the door for Olivia to jump out. We make our way to the elevator and the apartment. I use my keys to open the front door.

I let her walk in first. She looks at me with a small smile before saying, “Goodnight, Josh.” She starts to walk towardher bedroom, and I call out her name, “Olivia.” She stops in her spot and turns to face me.

“Yeah, Josh?”

I close the space between us, putting my hand in her hair at the base of her head. I lower my head down to hers. I’m done being worried about the things outside of Olivia and I. I’ve spent too much time not acting on how I feel for Olivia. No more, I’m taking what I want. I wait for a second giving her time to say no. Her breath fans against my lips as mine hover over hers. Her chest begins to rise and fall at a rapid pace. When she doesn’t stop me, I lower my lips to hers.

I’ve spent years thinking about this moment. What it would feel like to finally kiss the girl I’ve pined over for years. Her lips are soft and sweet from the dessert we had tonight. She seems hesitant. I move my lips over hers slowly, and she kisses me back. She wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me down closer to her. I walk us until her back is pressed against the wall and I deepen the kiss, using my tongue to trace the seam of her lips urging her to open to me.

Her lips part and our tongues meet. A groan leaves my chest, and she kisses me back more urgently. I break the kiss and trail kisses across her jaw and down her neck. “Josh” she whispers as I reach a spot behind her ear that seems to drive her crazy.

I run my tongue over that spot again before trailing my mouth back across her jaw. I kiss her again and push my hips against her stomach, allowing her to feel how hard I am for her. Releasing my hand from her hair, I trail it down her body, skimming over her breast and down her side before gripping her ass and pulling her body further into mine.

“Do you feel what you do to me, Olivia? How hard you make me?” I whisper against her lips. She nods her head slightly before I kiss her again.

“If you want me to stop, tell me now, Olivia,” I say.

“Keep going Josh,” she says as she moves her hips closer to me. I move my leg between hers, pressing my thigh into her centre. She grinds against it, seeking the friction she so desperately needs. As I continue to devour her, I use my hands on her ass to help her grind harder on my thigh. Breaking the kiss, I work my way down her throat and a mewl leaves her. She is enjoying this as much as I am. Her grip tightens in my hair as she works herself fast against me.
