Page 59 of Saving You

When he and Charlie separate, he smiles at me before jumping onto the ice. They end up losing the game, 2-3, but the guys still seem to be in good moods when they come off the ice. He waves as they make their way to the dressing room, and Olivia, Charlie, and I head upstairs.

We order dinner, and I text Caleb to get his order so he can join us. Charlie colours while Liv and I talk. Just as Josh, Caleb, and Matt show up, our food is delivered.

“So, what are your plans for Christmas?” Olivia asks me.

“Oh, I don’t know. I don’t have any family, so it’s usually just Charlie and me,” I say as Caleb says, “She’ll come to my mom’s with me.”

His hand comes to the back of my neck and gives it a quick squeeze before adding, “You two aren’t going to spend the holidays alone.”

My stomach knots. That’s a big deal. Being invited to meet someone’s family is huge, but to spend the holidays with them is major. I just stare at him. I don’t know what to say.

“That’s great,” Liv says, her voice full of excitement. “We’re having a big friend’s Christmas on Boxing Day. You’ll have to join us. And for New Year’s Eve too.”

I use my napkin to wipe at my mouth before turning back to Liv. “That sounds great. We’ll be there.”

We finish eating and all say our goodbyes before we make our way to the truck. When we get back, I take Charlie upstairs and get her ready for bed before reading her a bedtime story and tucking her in. Finn is sitting patiently beside Charlie’s bed. I look at him, and he gives me this pleading look I can’t ignore.

Charlie notices and asks, “Mommy, can Finn sleep with me?”

“Yeah. I’ll double check with Caleb, but for now, he can join you.”

“Yay!”

I pat the spot beside her, and Finn jumps up, spinning in a circle twice before he cuddles up beside her. When I leave her room, I find Caleb leaning against the wall across from her door.

“My daughter stole your dog.”

He smiles and reaches out for me, pulling me towards him and forcing my legs onto either side of his outstretched ones. His hands rest on top of my ass.

“That’s all good. If Charlie and Finn want to sleep together, it’s all good with me.” He gives me a quick peck before his expression turns sombre. “I’m sorry,” he says, and I stay silent. I’m not sure what he’s apologizing for.

“For?”

“If I overstepped in saying you guys will be joining my family for Christmas. I understand if you don’t want to, but I want you to know I meant it. I don’t want you guys spending Christmas alone and I would love to take you to my mom’s. I know she’ll be so happy to have you. She keeps nagging me to bring a woman home to meet her,” he says with a grin.

“I don’t want to impose,” I start to say, but his finger comes to my mouth and he leans down.

“Bailey, you and Charlie are never an imposition. I want you there.”

“We’ll go,” I say as his lips descend on mine.

He kisses me in a way that has me thinking he’s saying more with this kiss than he ever could with words. When we finally break apart, he whispers, “I want you in my bed tonight.”

I nod, and he lifts me, carrying me into his bedroom.

I love that he carries me everywhere. I could easily walk, but it’s like he needs to have me close, and I love it. He drops me on the bed and follows me. We work to undress each other, his lips dusting over every inch of my exposed skin. He kisses my stretch marks, slowly taking time to show them each love. Tears gather behind my eyes. I’ve never felt as cherished as I do with Caleb.

He works his way down my body to the apex of my thighs. Taking his time tasting me. I arch my back as his finger enters me and his tongue flicks my clit. I fist the sheets, needing something to ground me. The pleasure radiating through my body is almost too much. His teeth scrape my clit, and it sends me over the edge. The tears fall as I come.

He works out every ounce of my orgasm before he slowly kisses his way back up my body. When he makes it up to my face, he pulls back and brushes a stray hair back from my face. His face is full of concern. “What’s wrong?”

I shake my head. “Nothing,” I whisper.

“Baby, you’re crying. What’s wrong?”

As I stare into this man’s eyes, I realize I’m completely lost for him. I went and jumped straight over the edge and fell for him. For his protective side, for the way he loves my daughter, the way he cherishes me, and the way he’s pulled me into his life and hasn’t let me go. The tears start in earnest.

“Nothing’s wrong. Everything is perfect,” I say, wrapping my legs around his hips.
