He leans down and kisses mytears away. It’s gentle and full of affection. He positions himself at my entrance and slowly pushes in as I stretch around him. He holds eye contact, and I can feel this unwavering connection with him. His movements are slow. He holds my hand beside my head as he kisses me and takes his time. The build is slow, but when I explode, it’s the best orgasm I’ve ever had. The tears start again. I don’t ever want to lose this. I don’t ever want to lose him.
He follows shortly behind me, his thrusts becoming more choppy as he calls my name into my neck and finishes. He rolls off me, taking me with him. He stares at me like he’s searching for some hidden meaning, some secret. And I guess there is one. I’ve fallen in love with him and I’m not sure I’m ready to tell him.
He gives me a quick kiss before making his way to the washroom then returning with a washcloth. He cleans me up and then climbs back into bed, pulling me into him and kissing the top of my head as he whispers, “Good night, baby.”
CHAPTER 22
Bailey
When I wake up in the morning, Caleb isn’t with me. I roll out of bed and make my way downstairs and find Caleb in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee and making breakfast. He sees me and smiles, pouring another cup before bringing it to me and kissing me.
“Morning, Bails. Sleep well?”
I smile. “Yeah, you?”
“Like a baby. Breakfast is almost done. I was just going to go wake you and Charlie up.”
“I’ll go get her.”
I take a sip of my coffee and place it on the counter before going to Charlie’s room. I push open her door and see her curled up in the middle of the bed, cuddling Princess and Finn. I walk up to her slowly, enjoying how peaceful she looks.
Finn stirs first, giving his head a shake as he watches me.
I kiss Charlie’s forehead. “Baby Girl, it’s time to get up. Caleb made breakfast.”
She rolls and stretches, pulling Princess back into her as she curls back into a ball.
“Baby Girl,” I say again, and her eyes flutter open.
She yawns and smiles up at me, “Morning, Mommy.”
“Morning, Baby Girl. Caleb has breakfast downstairs.”
She does another cat stretch, causing Finn to stand up and jump off the bed. She rolls out of bed and follows me downstairs with Finn hot on her heels. She settles into a chair at the kitchen table, and Caleb sets a plate and a glass of orange juice in front of her. She thanks him and digs in. I grab a scoop of Finn’s food and fill his bowl, placing it right beside Charlie as he doesn’t seem to want to move. I grab my coffee and pull out the chair across from her, and Caleb joins us, giving me a plate.
“So, I was thinking about going and getting a Christmas tree tonight. Do you guys want to come?”
Charlie perks up at the question. “A real tree?” she asks, her voice full of wonder.
“Yup, a real tree.” He smiles at her.
She looks at me. “Mommy, can we?”
We’ve always had a fake tree. It was easier because I couldn’t carry and set up a real tree by myself. Growing up, we always had real trees. My parents and I would go and pick one out, and Dad would carry it in and set it up in the living room. Mom and I would then decorate the tree together. She would let me put my ornaments wherever I wanted and then, when we were done, Dad would lift me and I would put the star on the top. I always wanted to share that tradition with my own family, but Derek wasn’t interested and could never be bothered to help decorate for Christmas.
I smile at her. “Yeah, we can go.”
Caleb smiles at me. “Sounds good. I was thinking we could leave here at 5:30, does that work for you guys?”
“It’s perfect.”
We finish eating, and I take Charlie upstairs to get ready for work and school.
Caleb waits for us downstairs. He helps Charlie into her jacket, helping her zip it up before placing a kiss on her forehead. “Have a good day at school, Little Bear.”
He stands and passes me a to-go mug of coffee and gives me a quick kiss. “Have a good day at work.”
That’s the first time he’s kissed me with Charlie obviously watching us. I don’t have a problem with it. She needs to know that Caleb and I are seeing each other and seeing me in a healthy relationship will be good for her.
