With each day that passed, she allowed me to touch her more and more. Kiss her. Hold her. Nuzzle her. She was aware of my desires for her and frequently noticed my engorged cock, but she didn’t seem to fear I would lose control and claim her.
To borrow a human phrase I’d overheard, her trust meantthe world to me.
I made to sit on the bed next to her, only to rise to my feet at once. I doubted the bed would hold my weight, and I didn’t want to damage her sleeping area. Especially when I had no idea how much longer we would be stuck in this cabin. The only other bedroom in this tiny abode contained a smaller mattress that was so narrow, I doubted her ability to sleep comfortably in it.
Fortunately, I’d found a sizable mattress for my personal alcove, an item I’d swiped from a long-abandoned cabin that was missing part of its roof. I’d placed the mattress on the floor of my alcove and covered it with soft, warm blankets. Pillows, too.
Would she agree to mate with me on the bed I’d created in my alcove? Would she eventually turn on all fours and show me her mating hole, inviting me to claim her?
Eagerness swelled within me at the image of her doing just that, as well as the loud clamor of my people after they heard me release the mating call.
Whenever two souls joined in our community, the male emitted a thunderous roar when he entered his female. He freed another roar when he spilled his seed deep inside his mate.
During the last year, I’d heard many mating calls, and I’d joined in many mating celebrations. After a mating call was heard echoing throughout the cavern, my people would rejoice over the union and make as much noise as possible in hopes that the Great Spirit would bestow many blessings on the newly mated pair. We would stomp our feet, beat thick branches against trees, and call out as we danced with the joyful knowledge that two hearts were joining for all time.
At first, I’d enthusiastically taken part in the mating celebrations. But somewhere along the way, I’d started to feel left behind. I’d begun to worry that I would never find my mate, and my passion for rejoicing with my fellow tribesmen had faded.
I’d frequently walked into the forest alone, seeking solitude as I beseeched the Great Spirit for help. I’d prayed and prayed, pleaded, and bartered. I’d nearly given up hope.
Tenderness resounded in my psyche as I gazed upon Liv. At last, I’d found my fated mate. The female who was meant to be mine. I would endeavor to give her a happy life, and I would treasure her until my dying breath.
Would we have children together? I hoped it would be possible, even though she was half-alien. I hoped the Vaxxlian part of her wouldn’t be averse to carrying a half-Montikaan babe in her womb.
But even if I knew beyond all doubt that wecouldn’thave children together, I would still want her. I would battle a thousand Feshhallian beasts to be with Liv.
A soft sigh escaped her, and she turned over and blinked awake. Her luminous green gaze settled on me, and a tired but beautiful smile crossed her face.
“Good morning, Mastorr.” She covered a wide yawn. “I barely remember you waking me up earlier to say you were venturing outside for a while. I must’ve needed the extra sleep.”
“Good morning, sweet one. How did you sleep?”
“Not bad.” She sat up against the pillows. “How long have you been standing there watching me? Cause that’s not creepy or weird at all.” She made a funny face, which made me think she was joking, though I couldn’t be certain. Sometimes, I found the meaning behind her words difficult to comprehend.
“I held you all night, but once first light arrived, I placed you in the bed so I could go check and reinforce the warning markers I’ve placed around the cabin. Once I finished outside, a short while ago, I returned to your side to watch you finish your slumber. I must confess that I love watching you sleep. You look peaceful, and you made adorable noises, too.”
She flushed and tucked her hair behind her ears. “Um, what do you mean byreinforce thewarning markers? What markers are you talking about?”
“The thick branches I twisted and placed in the forest around the perimeter of the cabin. I put the branches in place several days ago, to keep other Montikaans from venturing too close, but it is a good idea to mark the branches with my scent on a daily basis. That will deter others from coming close.”
“Mark the branches?” She covered another yawn. “Mark them how? Do you write on them?”
“No, I do not write on them. I urinate all over them, until they are drenched in my scent. I am confident the scent will scare away even the bravest Montikaan.”
Her eyebrows rose almost to her hairline, and her lips parted on a gasp. “Oh,” was all she said.
I leaned down to kiss her forehead. “Get dressed, sweet one. While I was out, I also collected pokklam berries and a variety of nuts for your breakfast.”
Chapter26
LIV
At some point,I’d lost track of the days. I knew Mastorr had been in my life for over a week by now. Perhaps two. But the days blended together. It was almost like I’d lost all sense of time.
A dream. That’s what my budding relationship with Mastorr felt like sometimes. A wonderful dream that had no definite beginning or end.
After washing my face and brushing my teeth, I hurriedly got dressed and opened the bedroom door, only to find a huge, handsome Sasquatch standing in the hallway. I playfully rolled my eyes as I guessed what he was about to do. Sure enough, he scooped me up in his arms and carried me downstairs.
“Why do you always smell so nice, Mastorr? You smell strongly of mint, and you always seem so clean, yet I haven’t witnessed you bathing.” I’d been meaning to ask him this for a while, though I’d held back out of politeness. But as I took deep inhales of his minty scent, my curiosity finally got the better of me.
