His gaze fell on Jamie’s bright smile. “You’re here!”
Jamie rushed over and spun Gray to face the man he was there to meet.
As soon as he set sight on Rohan, the air rushed from his lungs. The man was stunning… perfectly made in every way. Big and muscled as any alpha, he wore an expensive-looking tailored suit that showed wide shoulders and a narrow waist. The alpha’s scent hit Gray… and he paused to inhale a little of it. Lust washed over him, his body rocked by need. He’d just gone through his heat the week before, so he didn’t understand the sensations running through him.
Some of Gray’s cream slickened his ass. Mortification filled him. There was also no missing the sudden clench to Rohan’s jaw.
The alphahadto scent him…
Dark eyes met his before that stare swept completely over him. Gray saw lust there in that gaze and had to remind himself it was all an instinctual reaction. An alpha scenting an available omega—that’s all it was.
And in that moment, he wished he’d injected some of Avery’s scent blocker. He hadn’t even thought about it… but then, why would he? He had little experience with alphas. His father, and a few friends who’d come over every so often when he was young—but once he’d gone into heat that first time, he’d been sequestered away. Even though Rohan had an omega all his own, it wouldn’t completely subdue the animal instinct within Rohan. Jamie and Tensen couldn’t scent him… only the alpha in the room would know.
Gray couldn’t look away from the alpha’s dark, fierce stare. His body shook with need…
And the desire to bow down then and there to be taken. He snagged his gaze away, shame filling him.
Jamie babbled on, seeming oblivious to what was happening. “I couldn’t wait for you two to meet… it feels like such a long time coming. So, without further ado—Rohan, this is Gray. Gray, my alpha, Rohan.”
He lifted his stare to Rohan’s once more. The alpha’s gaze was locked on him. Gray felt his skin tingling… butterflies spinning in his gut…
All for a man he couldn’t have…
A man he might carry a child for.
Gray clenched his own jaw thinking of his womb filled with Rohan’s child. His womb clenched, too.My gods… if only I could have him fill me the old-fashioned way.
As soon as the thought whispered through his mind, he felt terrible. More shame mounted on the heaps already overwhelming him. He couldn’t stand there wanting another omega’s alpha. Especially when that omega had become so special to him.
Rohan rose to his full height, towering over them both, and put a large hand out before Gray. He was almost afraid to take it, fearful of what his body might do from even an innocent touch. After he saw an odd, fearful look cross Jamie’s face, he took Rohan’s hand with his and shook. It was a shock to his system, that simple handshake.
Electricity arced up his arm, and fire spread across his body. He looked down, unwilling to meet the man’s eyes, not as lust slammed into him. “Very nice to meet you.”
“Likewise,” Rohan murmured.
The rumbling growl to Rohan’s voice made him slick with more of his juices. He closed his eyes and yanked his hand away, ashamed. When he reopened them, Jamie wore an odder expression—staring between the two of them.
He belongs to Jamie.
He belongs to Jamie.
Stop wanting what you can’t have.
The instinct didn’t care about claims on another. The instinct simplywanted. The years and years of neglect had left his body ravished by desire, and now his failure to find an alpha of his own was coming back to haunt him in the worst possible way.
“Why don’t we all take a seat and get comfortable,” Tensen interjected, his normal jovial self.
Comfortable? Not hardly.
Jamie sat down beside Gray and across from his alpha. Gray did everything in his power to not look at the big, powerful man before him. Which, of course, soon grew impossible. His stare was drawn to the man like a magnet.
“I’ve told Rohan so much about you over the last few weeks. On the way here, he said it felt as if he already knew you,” Jamie prattled on.
Gray smiled, struggling to think of what to say. Over their tea confessionals, Jamie had already shared much about Rohan, too. Gray sensed the two were very much in love.He loves Jamie. Jamie loves him. Stop being such an asshole.“Ialso… feel like I know a lot… about you,” he mumbled, his mouth feeling as if it were full of rocks.
“Are you okay?” Jamie asked, frowning. “Is something upsetting you?”
Gray looked anywhere but forward. “I’m… I’m fine.”
