It was insane to even imagine it.
“I don’t want my child to be made in a cold, sterile laboratory. I’ve been stuck in too many of those myself as of late, and I don’t want that to be the way this life is created.”
Rohan spoke up as Gray sat there stunned. “You wish for me to lie with another omega? I can’t.I won’t. I made a vow to you upon our claiming, and I don’t intend to break it. Not even for this.”
Jamie turned to eye his alpha. “Please, Rohan… I don’t ask much from you. Iwantthis child.”
“I’ve agreed to the child, even though I fear what stress it might put on you… I just can’t agree to this manner.” Rohan argued. “Please don’t ask me this. I beg you.”
Gray’s flash of lust for Rohan now came back to haunt him. He’d told himself he’d have next to no contact with the alpha and here Jamie was suggesting they bed one another?
He’d been all prepared for a surgical approach. Gray would be put under for the three days of his heat while Rohan’s seed would be implanted within, hoping for the best. What Jamie suggested wouldn’t be so simple. He’d have to be awake through his heat. Rohan would have to accommodate him for three days of sex in the attempt to make a babe. And what if it didn’t work the first heat? How many heats would it take?
Yet wasn’t it what he’d wished for upon first entering and spying Rohan.
He’d asked for this.
Be careful what you wish for…
Gray struggled to speak. “I don’t know that I can agree…”
Jamie walked over and knelt at Gray’s feet. “I spent hours in chemo… sitting in a chair, hooked up to a machine shooting poison into my veins. Hours… week after week… watching the other omegas around me withering away and fearing I was, too. In and out of the hospital… surgeries… I don’t want this new life to begin someplace like that.It can’t.”
Gray stared into the man’s face. Over the weeks, their long conversations… he felt like they’d known each other forever. There was a bond of friendship that had forged so quickly… but this was too much to ask.
“Thereisdata that proves natural insemination is three times more likely to work than artificial,” Tensen murmured. “Considering the fee for each artificial insemination… it could get costly. With the hormone injections and various procedures—it could wear on you all. I know of surrogates who try for years to become pregnant via that route with no luck.”
“Years!” Jamie cried. “Or we could make arrangements for you to be brought to our home for your next heat. Rohan could tend to you. And the chances of you becoming pregnant the natural way are so much higher.” Jamie paused, smiling. “A babe made naturally, the way the gods intended.”
Gray lifted his stare, but he could barely look at Rohan. From the vibe in the room, he knew the alpha didn’t like the idea any better than he did.
He shook his head. “It’s not right.”
“Please,” Jamie pleaded. “You were ready to say yes… justplease, think it over. It would be better for all of us this way.” Jamie lowered his voice. He whispered, “All those years of Heat Repress… Let me help you.”
Shock rolled over Gray at the last comments. He met the omega’s stare, his mouth falling open.
“No… you can’t,” Gray said, feeling numb.
And feeling sick that he sensed a rising lust at the thought of bedding Rohan and taking care of those needs. He’d never been with an alpha. Never had one to tend to him during a heat. His curiosity alone urged him to say yes.
But how could he lay with Jamie’s alpha and make a child? A child he would hand over to the pair of them and potentially never see again—no matter if he got their promises for him to see the boy. Legally, he’d have no right, regardless if it was in the contract, and they would be free to keep him away.
He rose to his feet. “I need to go.”
“Promise me you’ll consider my request,” Jamie asked, placing his hand on Gray’s shoulder. “I don’t want to wait years for a child. Do you?”
Gray shook his head silently before escaping the room. He rushed down the hall and took the corner before rushing into the bathroom. After splashing his face, he lifted his stare to the mirror.
How could he do this?
The bathroom door opened suddenly… and Rohan entered. Their eyes met in the mirror before Gray looked down. He shook his hands to get more of the water off before heading for the door and passing the alpha.
Rohan reached out to stop him. “I didn’t ask him to do this… I had no idea.”
Another surge of heat spread through Gray, his asshole coated with cream. “I didn’t think you did,” Gray said without looking at the man.
Rohan dropped his hold. “Ilovemy omega. With every piece of me. The thought of lying with another? Kills me… yet disappointing him and not doing something he desperately wants?” Rohan sighed. “I can’t win, either way. You… on the other hand… you’re not beholden to him. You haven’t signed an agreement… no contract. If you were to say no… it would put an end to this madness.”
