“Son of a fucking bitch!” Iroared. Pulling my phone from my pocket, I tapped on her number. Itimmediately went to voice mail. “Fuck! She’s not answering. We needto get out of here. Now!”

“Take a breather there,Ryder. We don’t need you taking a spill on your bike. She’s at theclub right? Maybe she didn’t hear her phone because she’s busy withthe girls.” Grayson clapped me on the shoulder. “But our job isdone here so let’s roll.”

Rushing out into the night, I didn’teven wait for the rest of my crew, but jumped onto my bike and spedin the direction of the club. Less than ten minutes later, Isprinted to our entrance and barged inside yelling forSage.

“What the hell, Ryder. Takea chill.” Angel stepped out of the rec area.

“Where is Sage? Why isn’tshe answering her phone?”

“Possessive asshole much?”She tossed her hand onto her hip.

“I don’t have time for yoursass. And I will be like this until that bastard Wasp is in theground. You still haven’t answered my question.” I growled throughclenched teeth.

Angel paled. “She could barely keepher eyes open, so we dropped her off at your place just a littlebit ago. She’s probably in the shower. Or fell asleep.” Her voicewobbled at the end.

I didn’t have time to reassure herthat her theories held merit even as I couldn’t convince myself ofthose possibilities. I raced back out of the club, leapt onto mybike, and raced home.

When I pulled into the garage, I hadbarely shut off my engine before I was bolting for the side door.“SAGE!” I roared again. My heart thudded against my rib cage aspure terror tightened my chest. My dread almost had me tearingapart my house.

Before I could sprint down my hallway,Sage stepped out of our room, wrapped in a towel, her hair damp andhanging down her back. “What’s the matter, Ryder? Are youokay?”

“Am I okay? Holy fuck! Ithought something had happened to you, so no, I’m not okay or atleast I wasn’t.” My eyes ate up her freshly showered body and I wassure the heat and intensity glowed from my stare. “You didn’tanswer my call.”

“My phone died and then Ijumped into the shower while I was waiting for you to comehome.”

Two things hit me almostsimultaneously.
