“Don’t answer the phone like you’re so annoyed with me. Your man came by this morning looking for you. I started to ask him if he could pay your half of the rent since you’re two days late!” She snapped at me.

“Don’t ever say that he’s my man again and keep it down, I have you on speaker phone. I don’t have this month rent but I’m pretty sure I won’t need to have it at all since I’ve officially moved in with my fiancé last night.” I giggled.

I walked away from my phone and opened up the refrigerator like I already knew what was inside of it. Octavio ate healthy; there was steak, fresh herbs, eggs, and all kind of other things that I didn’t too much care for. Since the steak was the first thing that I laid eyes on, I grabbed that first followed by the eggs.

“Are you fucking kidding me? You think just because I can cover your half while you go be delusional that you will have an apartment to come back to. I’m getting sick of you?—”

“Shut the fuck up, Syren!” I slapped my hand over my mouth because I was getting loud. Syren knew how to always bring the worse out of me .

“You knew my plan, now that it’s working and I’m where the fuck I want to be…you’re trying to cause me problems. Respect me, and find something safe to do other than fucking with my emotions when I’m feeling good.” I warned.

“Bitch please! You need to get back on your medication because you’re going too far now. I’m always here to support you and assist, but this is a little far-fetched. Where are you, send me your location so I can come and get you, baby. I’m getting worried,” Syren’s voice was full of concern.

I shook my head like she was in front of me and continued to crack eggs into a ceramic bowl. I remained quiet as I stirred the eggs with a smile on my face. I pictured Octavio waking up with a smile on his face when he realized that he had me here with him to keep him company. I got a little frustrated with my conflicted thoughts as well. I heard Syren talking but my mind and anxiety went left.

I’m not just here…I’m staying. This is the start of something real, Octavio just don’t know it yet. Why would he send me away…I got food cooking in his kitchen and the shit smell amazing…I gave him the best sex he’s ever had…I am exactly what he didn’t know he needed. He needs to start loving me, I need to feel love…I’m tired of everybody treating me like I’m not worthy of…

I thought to myself as Syren yelled in the phone.

“You’re talking to yourself out loud again.” She sighed into the phone.

“Rylie Rose…please bestie…tell me where you are, so I can come and pick you up. I don’t want you going to jail like your parents nor being committed to a facility because of the outlandish things you do,” she stressed.

“I’m fine, Syren. I came to Octavio’s house last night and he let me move in—well spend the night but I have a strong feeling that I will remain here. This is home; once he starts giving me money…I’ll pay the rent off there for you, I promise.” I quickly hung up the phone.

I felt paranoid for a couple of seconds. I hoped that he didn’t hear me say that last part. I wasn’t going after Octavio for the money, I truly loved him. His money would be a bonus for me as well as helping Syren out. She always helped me at my lowest points. I sometimes asked why she always had my front and my back.

I knew that Syren had feelings for me, but she loved men more. Syren loved my aggressiveness; it never went as far as that. I normally shared my location with her, I turned it off last night because I didn’t want to expose Octavio’s address. Syren would come wherever she knew I was at because she swore up and down since I stopped taking my medicine that I had been losing my mind even more.

Just as I flipped the steak, I heard a creak. My heart soared; the sound excited me because I knew that he was close by. Octavio was going to be happy, seeing me like this…Naked in his kitchen, making his house a home…our home. The eggs were done, over easy like I observed from when he ordered brunch with his associates. I took the steaks off the stove then started setting out plates on top of the marble island.

My heard pounded as I brushed my hair behind my ears. My hair was wild, I wasn’t that aware when I left out of his room. Now that I really thought about my appearance, I was such in a rush to give myself a tour of my new home, I didn’t handle my morning hygiene. It was too late to do all of that now.

Octavio walked in, his wild hair all over his head. I was disappointed to see that he had on a pair of joggers and a fresh white beater. His breast sort of sagged in the shirt he wore; my mouth watered at the sight of him in the morning. He was a beautiful man, it was undeniable. Even with crust tucked in the corners of his eyes.

“Hey,” I said sweetly.

He paused, blinked, then diverted his eyes toward the food then back at me.

“You…cooked?” He asked.

I batted my eyes several times and didn’t respond back. That’s a dumb ass question, let him answer it himself.I laughed his question off and decided to play along since he probably was nervous.

“Of course, I cooked for you, my love. You did so well last night, I thought that you deserved something special. Come eat before this shit gets cold.” I turned away from him and walked to the fridge to get us something to drink.

I avoided eye contact on purpose as I poured us both orange juice. When I looked up at Octavio, he was still standing in the same spot.

“Well? Are you going to let your food get cold?” I asked.

He hesitated for a second with a flicker of thought behind his eyes. What was he thinking, right now?I wondered, as I witnessed uncertainty cross his perfect face.It doesn’t matter, he’ll get used to me.I walked around the island and closed the distance between us to place a kiss on his cheek. Octavio tensed up then relaxed against my naked body. That’s right, my love…you’ll adjust soon.

Finally, he took a seat at the island. I took a seat across from him. I waited for him to pick up his food then rested my chin in the palm of my hand. I watched him pick around his plate until he finally started to devour everything.

“Your home is beautiful,” I murmured.

“I could really see myself here…forever.” I smirked with quiet satisfaction.

“Yeah?” Octavio looked up before swallowing down hard.
