Having Jax Thoms in my bed, in my life, it really is the only way that I can go forward. I need him, and it really seems to me like he needs me too. He’s the one. My life, with him in it, will feel complete at long last. It’s been too long since I last felt like I had it all.

JAX
“Breakfast in bed?” Lilly asks me in an amused and very happy tone of voice. “Wow, is this the sort of treatment that I’m to expect now that we’re officially together? I like that. I can get used to it.”
“Oh, you’re going to be treated like a princess, alright,” I assure her. “I have a whole lot of making up to do. Three years’ worth of being a good boyfriend to make sure that I do it all right this time around.”
As he leans down to kiss me gently on the forehead, my heart flutters with excitement. I can hardly take it. Not only is he completely adorable in every single way, but he’s lovely to me as well. The bad boy rock star is actually a total sweetheart deep down, and I get to see that side of him. I’m so lucky.
“I guess I’ll have a lot of time on my hands now, since I’m unemployed.” He laughs. “Until I get myself some kind of employment, I’m at your beck and call. Whatever you need, I’m here for you.”
“Unemployed.” I laugh. “It’s weird to think of you in that way. But yes, I suppose you are.”
I never thought that this would be something I would enjoy, but it is. I can breathe more deeply and I’m much freer. I’ve already spoken to Harry and Spike this morning and it seems like they’re doing okay as well. Spike is just about to head into his live-in rehab facility to get himself cleaned up, and Harry has meetings all day long about a solo career. He’s striking while the iron is hot. I’m the only one who is sitting back for the moment to completely chill out, but that is the way for me too.
“Do you have any plans?” Lilly asks me curiously. “Not pushing you or anything, just wondering. I know what you’re like, Jax, and I don’t think this is something that you wouldn’t have thought of.”
“I do have a plan, actually.” I smile proudly as I declare this. “And I have some meetings today to sort it out. I intend to go back to college, to finish the qualification that I should have finished all that time ago, and complete it at long last. I’m going to start again and make a plan from there.”
“Wow.” Her eyes almost pop out of her head in surprise. “That really is some plan. Are you going to be able to go back? I don’t mean will they let you, but will you be able to hack it? That environment?”
“I’m absolutely determined, and you know me. Once I put my mind to something, I achieve it.”
She lets out a little laugh. “Yeah, that’s true. I can’t deny that. So, you’re going to be a student.”
“Will you be okay with dating a student?” I waggle my eyebrows playfully. “You might have to financially support me through this challenging time of my life. I’ll rely on you for everything.”
“Shut up.” She shoves me playfully. “I’m pretty sure that you’re capable of looking after yourself.”
Now that is true. I don’t think I realized quite how much money I had until it was all over. And I’ll still have royalties rolling in over the years, not that I’m going to sit back and rely only on that. I’m not going to blow any more of my cash, though, not on something dumb. I’ll invest it in a good future.
“You know, I’m supposed to go to work today,” Lilly tells me shyly. “But I can take the day off if you want? I don’t mind spending the day hanging out with your hunky body… I haven’t had enough.”
“Much as that is a tempting offer, averytempting offer,” I say as I run my eyes up and down her sexy as fuck body, “I have to meet with the college today and I also want to see my father. I feel like I have a lot to discuss with him. You know, we haven’t had the best relationship over the last three years, and I’m starting to think I have a lifestyle he might actually be proud of. I’m hoping that we can repair everything.”
“Wow, really?” Lilly looks impressed, proud of me as well, which only makes me happier than before. “That’s awesome. I’m pleased to hear it. I mean, I’m sure that he has always been proud of you, but even more so now. You’re finally making yourself happy and putting yourself first.”
I also have another plan, but that’s a secret, not something that I intend to share with her here. It’s going to be a surprise for after she finishes work. So, as much as I want to blurt out every singleword, I don’t. I just about manage to keep everything locked inside. It’ll all be worth it when I see her smile.
“So, I’m going to walk you to work.” I grin. “Once you’re showered and ready to go. I’ll let you introduce me to all of your coworkers because I’m sure they’re going to need to grill me to check that I’m the one for you. Then I’ll go and sort things with my dad and go from there.”
She hooks her hand around the back of my neck and pulls me in for a deep kiss. Some of the breakfast items nearly spill over the sheets, but it doesn’t matter. The passion that Lilly and I share doesn’t ever stop, no matter what is going on. We can’t seem to stop ourselves.
“Well, I'd better go and get on with my day, then,” she says as we finally pull apart. “It seems like we both have a busy one ahead of us. The sooner we get started, the quicker we can be back together.”
And that’s exactly what it’s all about. Our love overshadows everything else. Nothing else matters. It’s only Lilly and me. I couldn’t be happier. Thank God, I finally made it back to her.
“Are you back to let me grill you some more?” Sandra, Lilly’s boss, asks as I wait at the exit of the theater for Lilly to finish her work. As her hands fly onto her hips, I can’t help but laugh at her. I love the way she just treats me as Jax, not as a guy fromLionHeart. “Because I have plenty more questions.”
“I’m sure you do. And if any of them need to be asked, I’m an open book for you.”
She waggles her finger as if she’s telling me off. “You haven’t always been a good boy, have you? But at the same time, at least you’ve been honest with me. I suppose that means I can trust you for now.”
“You will keep me in line anyway, I’m sure.” I laugh. “I don’t want an ass kicking from you.”
“Is Sandra threatening you again?” Lilly asks as she swings around the corner to see me. “Sorry.”
